The Document Foundation, the organization managing the LibreOffice suite, has formed a community group with the aim of further improving support for PPT and PPTX file formats. While this open-source office suite already handles files created in Microsoft Office quite well, the latest efforts will focus on addressing known issues to enhance service.
The Document Foundation sets up support team for PPT and PPTX files in LibreOffice Impress
- Get LibreOffice
- Get LibreOffice for Mac
- Get LibreOffice for Linux
The initial members of the team include Bartosz Kosiorek, who has implemented some improvements to Windows Metafile support; a user with the nickname nd101 - a new contributor passionate about making PowerPoint files in LibreOffice work better than ever; and Mark Hung - invited to the team for his experience in fixing issues related to PPT, PPTX, and LibreOffice Impress.
To kick off the process, the LibreOffice Quality Assurance (QA) team is currently reviewing issues related to PPT and PPTX and will prioritize fixing critical bugs. While the newly established team addresses priority issues, the QA team will continue to test and experiment with bug fixes to ensure thorough resolution.
Following this, The Document Foundation will announce their work progress through the TDF blog. LibreOffice maintainers have stated that those interested in this matter can contribute by emailing their solutions. Non-programmers can comfortably report issues to the QA team if they encounter any bugs during usage. The issues will then be analyzed and resolved accordingly.
