Lijiang Ancient Town unfolds before me like a fairytale canvas adorned with myriad hues. It resembles a serene historical epic, at times akin to a romantic, endearing love story.
The Enigmatic Charm of Lijiang Ancient Town

A Daydreamer's Paradise
I can't believe I'm standing at an altitude of 2,400 meters above sea level, facing a tranquil and stunning scenery, so beautiful it's almost surreal, as if I'm immersed in a dream named 'lost in the dreamy town.' Mentioning Lijiang Ancient Town (Yunnan, China), one cannot overlook the Ngoc Ha River system winding through the inner city. The gentle flow of the river enhances the picturesque and romantic scenery of this place. Rest assured, charming bridges can be found everywhere in the town. Every café or restaurant has a bridge crossing over. There are so many bridges here that it's often called the 'City of Bridges.' Despite its seemingly small size, wandering endlessly, I still haven't explored all the nooks and crannies. The drainage system here is intricate, resembling a tangled maze. You may get lost even after a few walks. The first thing that catches my eye in Lijiang is the willow trees swaying gracefully by the streams in front of every house along the road. Willows paired with such nostalgic scenery are simply exquisite. It makes me feel like I've stepped into the world of an ancient Chinese period drama.

Lijiang Nights: Sparkling and Vibrant
Lijiang Ancient Town previously appeared to me as a vast, desolate plateau with calm waters and horses grazing leisurely by the lake. Coming here, everything is different from what I imagined. Lijiang is beautiful with many interesting perspectives. Behind those moss-covered rocks lies a whole neighborhood with lively and charming bars. In the evening, as the sun begins to set, amidst the hazy and surreal atmosphere, looking down from above, observing the ancient roofs emerging amidst vast land, I feel like I'm lost in the past. As night falls, strolling around the ancient town, I realize that it has a completely different beauty. It's busier than during the day, no longer quiet and peaceful, the streets become lively and bustling. I reassure myself, 'Isn't this more vibrant?'. Nighttime is the most bustling and crowded time of the ancient town. The nighttime temperature is lower than during the day but the bustling street scenes filled with tourists and locals make me forget the bone-chilling cold of this place.
