For the last six years, Jared Birchall's main role has been to handle asset matters and the 'spontaneous actions' of the world's richest tech tycoon.
Jarred Birchall is esteemed as one of the pivotal figures behind Elon Musk's triumph, also serving as the overseer of the billionaire's network of relationships. He's recognized as Musk's 'steward' while helming the family company, Excession. This firm specializes in managing everything, from arranging loans, hiring bodyguards, buying and selling properties, to handling Musk's quirky and controversial ideas.
The One Chosen by Elon Musk
Graduating from Brigham Young University, Birchall commenced his career at Goldman Sachs in 1999 as a financial analyst, as per his LinkedIn profile. Later, he joined Merrill Lynch in Los Angeles, serving there for about a decade as an asset manager.
However, Merrill Lynch dismissed Birchall in 2010 for 'behavior leading to loss of management's trust', including actions like 'sending letters to clients without management approval'. Nonetheless, less than a month later, Birchall began working at Morgan Stanley as an asset manager.

Birchall, a former director at Morgan Stanley, spent six years overseeing Musk's family office and is known as the mastermind behind the Tesla billionaire's radiance. Birchall himself aided Musk in arranging $46.5 billion to prepare for the Twitter takeover plan.
Unlike his flamboyant boss, Birchall is described as a quiet and steady operator. According to Raphael Amit, a management professor at the Wharton School, Birchall's multifaceted roles, including managing the family office, are evidence of Elon Musk's strong trust in this close associate.
The Butler and Trusted Aide to Elon Musk
Birchall collaborated with Musk about 10 years ago when he served as a client advisor for Morgan Stanley in Southern California. He helped the billionaire arrange hundreds of millions of dollars in loans from investment banks when Musk needed cash. The Wall Street Journal reported that Musk later hired Birchall.
Jared Birchall is one of the most influential figures in Elon Musk's corporate empire. This is because he is the director of the Inheritance Company, the sole office managing the majority of the Tesla billionaire's wealth.
In addition to assuming prominent roles at The Boring Company and Neuralink, Elon Musk's 'right-hand man' also serves on the board of directors of the Musk Foundation and several other important organizations.
Birchall has taken on more complex roles than a family office manager, such as building strong relationships with major banks that Musk often borrows from. This is the key to Musk's increasing wealth, as he borrows to fund new business ventures instead of selling shares in Tesla.

He arranged a $12.5 billion loan for the South African billionaire by pledging part of Musk's stake in Tesla. This deal elevated Musk's status but also drew public attention to Birchall.
Moreover, Jared Birchall is responsible for managing Musk's schedule. He handles everything from organizing the boss's transportation to various business projects, hiring nannies for the children, and arranging security for the billionaire.
Birchall is reported to receive a salary ranging from $1 million to $3 million, according to the New York Post. However, Birchall's compensation could be much higher, depending on the extent of his responsibilities, especially if it includes directly choosing stocks or hedge funds for investment.
Beyond Business Relationships
Birchall's duties extend far beyond managing the business interests of the world's wealthiest billionaire. Evidence of this is his involvement in protecting Tesla's image during controversies.
He's not just in charge of securing crucial loans to ensure the Twitter deal (currently on hold), but also the one behind the scenes supporting Musk in the smallest tasks.
In 2018, Elon Musk found himself entangled in a lawsuit with British cave diver Vernon Unsworth. A tweet on July 15, 2018, was deemed derogatory after Unsworth criticized Musk for a 'publicity stunt' when he offered to help rescue 13 soccer team members trapped in Tham Luang cave.

Jared Birchall was directly involved in this lawsuit. When asked to testify, Birchall told the court he had an 'instinct to protect Musk'. As a result, Elon Musk won the lawsuit.
Tayyab Mohamed, co-founder of the Agreus Group specializing in managing family offices for billionaires, sees Birchall and Musk as a 'perfect match'.
'If you don't fit culturally and you're not aligned with the workplace, you won't last long. I'm sure Jared is very good at what he's doing, but more importantly, he's very aligned with Elon Musk', commented Mohamed.
