Initially, authorities in Cambodia wanted to conduct an autopsy due to suspicions of foul play in the case of her body being thrown into the canal. However, the family did not permit it, hoping for a swift resolution to the case.

'Ah Yeong went there with a newly acquainted woman. They traveled to Cambodia together, but when the female streamer went missing for three days, there was no notification,' Sports Chosun reported.

The body of BJ Ah Yeong (real name Byun Ah Yeong, 33 years old) was found by Cambodian police on June 6th under a canal in the outskirts of Kandal province. During the investigation, authorities arrested a Chinese couple. The suspects were operating a traditional Chinese medicine clinic in Phnom Penh.
Cambodian media reported Ah Yeong passed away after being injected with serum at the hospital. Others speculate the female streamer was assaulted due to her bruised face.
