Sài Gòn has executed a ceremonial renaming of the two bridges spanning the Sài Gòn River – now known as Ba Son Bridge and Thủ Thiêm Bridge. Specifically, Thủ Thiêm 2 is now officially Ba Son Bridge, while Thủ Thiêm 1 retains its original name.
Sài Gòn witnesses the official renaming of Thủ Thiêm 2 Bridge to Ba Son Bridge.
On June 14th, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the names of Thủ Thiêm Bridge and Ba Son Bridge. Accordingly, Ba Son Bridge connects Tôn Đức Thắng Street (District 1) to the new Thủ Thiêm urban area (Thủ Đức City). It will now be referred to as Ba Son Bridge instead of its previous name, Thủ Thiêm 2. The bridge, inaugurated in April 2022, spans nearly 1.5 km with 6 lanes and a total investment of 3.1 trillion VND. Ba Son Bridge stands as a prominent architectural landmark on the Sài Gòn River.

Choosing the names Thủ Thiêm and Ba Son for the two bridges crossing the Sài Gòn River not only symbolizes the connection between the past and present within the urban landscape but also contributes to the education of historical and cultural traditions. This naming choice facilitates economic and socio-cultural transactions, enhancing investment attraction to ensure the completion of the new Thủ Thiêm urban area before 2030.
