The 5th annual 'Tourism Day - Lantern Night at Ninh Kieu, Can Tho' in 2022 will officially be held in January 2023.

The inaugural hot air balloon festival is set to take place in Can Tho for the first time.

The 'Tourism Day - Lantern Night at Ninh Kieu, Can Tho' for the 5th time in 2022, organized by the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Can Tho City, will span 3 days from January 5th to 7th, 2023 (December 14th to 16th, 2022 Lunar calendar), at various locations including Ninh Kieu Park, pedestrian bridge, Khai Luong canal, and Khai Luong canal bank.

Among the highlights of the event are two main activities: the Lantern - Model competition with an expected number of around 100 lanterns - models sized 3.5m and above, to be displayed at Khai Luong canal; the hot air balloon festival at Ninh Kieu Park and Khai Luong canal bank.

Additionally, within the framework of the event, there will be activities such as releasing 5,000 lanterns at Xang Thoi lake, street music performances, folk games, performances of Don ca tai tu (traditional music), folk songs, lullabies, street dance party, and more.

Here will showcase 12 booths for tourism promotion; 15 booths for traditional cakes and cuisine; 15 booths displaying OCOP products; 20 booths for creative cuisine Cần Thơ Creative; an art exhibition of Tây Đô's beauty through light; exhibition of the photo gallery 'New Life of Cần Thơ'.

Cần Thơ city is gradually recovering, this year's Lantern Festival has expanded with new activities such as hot air balloon festival, serving the cultural and spiritual life enjoyment of the people. Besides, it helps preserve the local cultural beauty, continue to promote the potential and advantages of the city's characteristic economic-cultural-social-tourism development, MICE tourism and the image of 'urban of rivers and lakes' tourism, contributing to the economic development of Cần Thơ city.
