In recent updates, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals Apple's plans to upgrade certain features to seamlessly integrate with Vision Pro.
Introducing Apple's Vision Pro—a groundbreaking innovation in augmented reality technology.In a recent Twitter post, Kuo hints at Apple's robust hardware upgrades for the iPhone, forming an integral part of their Vision Pro ecosystem.
The initial step in this process involves upgrading the Ultra Wideband chip within the iPhone 15 lineup. According to Kuo, the new iPhone models may utilize an enhanced version of the Ultra Wideband chip, tentatively named the U1 chip, boasting improved performance and reliability.
Apple commences production of iPhone 15, nearing its imminent release date.Kuo states: “iPhone 15 may see upgrades to the technical specifications of the UWB chip, with manufacturing processes shifting from 16nm to more advanced 7nm, allowing for performance enhancements or reduced power consumption.”
Apple's U1 chip debuted for the first time on iPhone and has been integrated into every iPhone model since. The U1 chip is also present in accessories like AirTag trackers, Series 6 and newer, HomePod mini, second-generation HomePod, and the latest AirPods Pro charging case.
Apple employs the U1 chip for various features such as Find My, Handoff, Precision Finding, AirDrop, etc. Kuo believes that the upgraded version of the U1 chip will enhance the performance of these features and play a crucial role in integration between Vision Pro and other Apple products.
