Witnessing Serpent d’Océan never fails to astonish, thanks to the ingenious artistry and meticulous detail of this sculpture.
The colossal Serpent d’Océan skeleton rises above the water's edge, a breathtaking sight to behold.
Serpent d’Océan is a special metal sculpture located on the beach of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins, a small town in France at the mouth of the Loire River leading into the Atlantic Ocean. This permanent structure represents the skeleton of a prehistoric serpent.

Serpent d’Océan – this impressive ocean serpent is the creation of Chinese artist Huang Yong Ping, crafted for the Voyage à Nantes festival for the Estuaire 2012 – a contemporary art exhibition. The message behind this artwork is a call to protect the environment and safeguard the lives of marine creatures.

Serpent d’Océan, stretching 130m, is entirely constructed from aluminum. The sinuous motion along the vertebrae of this artwork creates the illusion of a living creature, as if it is poised to emerge or vanish with the tide.
