Microsoft claims the new Xbox store is twice as fast as before, with load times taking less than 2 seconds. If true, it would surpass Sony's PlayStation Store, which takes a few seconds to reach the main screen. Game pages will also load faster.
The company states: 'More than just a regular app update, we've rebuilt the experience from the ground up to make it faster, safer, and easier to use than ever before'.
The new interface makes browsing games more comfortable and reasonable. The search function now has filters to narrow down results. The wishlist is now easier to use and can track prices. The shopping cart has also been refurbished.
The redesigned store makes finding both old and new content easier, especially with expanded Xbox backward compatibility.
The revamped parental controls ensure that content exceeding the child account's rating threshold will never appear during browsing or content search. However, parental or main accounts can still browse and approve restricted content. The new store will reach Insider users this week, starting from August 5th. Microsoft states they will gradually roll out the update to all users in the coming weeks, with full deployment by this fall.
It's undeniable that TikTok is now a heavyweight competitor to many existing video-sharing social networks. To enhance competitiveness, Snapchat will introduce TikTok-style music features in some markets next fall.
