The Most Hazardous Global Tourist Destinations in 2023
According to the New York Post, the risk assessment company International SOS has released the 2023 Travel Risk Map, based on advice from global security and health experts.
Criteria used to evaluate the security level of tourist destinations include threats to workers from violence, politics, social unrest, minor criminal violence, and more.
Based on these criteria, experts assess Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia, Mali, Iraq, and Ukraine as the highest-security risk tourist destinations for 2023.

Among these, besides tourist destinations like Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia, Mali, Iraq... Ukraine is typically categorized as 'medium risk.' However, the safety risk in Ukraine has escalated due to conflicts between this country and Russia.
Countries deemed 'low risk' include the US, Canada, China, Australia, and most of Europe. Reports indicate that security risks in Europe have hardly increased - despite the issues between Russia and Ukraine as well as the economic disruptions it causes.
International SOS also evaluates the healthcare safety level of countries for business travel. They rank based on healthcare related to Covid-19, infectious disease standards, emergency medical services, and the ability to access quality pharmaceutical supplies.
Low-risk countries include the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Western Europe. Meanwhile, countries classified as 'very high risk' are Mali, Niger, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, North Korea, Somalia, and Haiti.
