3. Why was Pluto excluded from the list of planets
Before 2006, Pluto (in English, Pluto) was classified as one of the 9 planets in the Solar System, mainly composed of rock and ice, with a relatively small size, approximately one-fifth the mass and one-third the volume of Earth's Moon. However, at the end of the 20th and early 21st centuries, many objects similar to Pluto were discovered outside the Solar System, most notably the scattered disk object Eris.
For that reason, in 2006, the International Astronomical Union first defined the term 'planet' and Pluto was classified into a new category called 'dwarf planet,' often translated as 'minor planet.' Accordingly, all objects in the Solar System are classified into one of three types: planet, dwarf planet, and small Solar System body.
