Apple's current item tracking accessory, AirTag, was unveiled in April 2021 and is priced at $29.
Apple is highly likely to unveil the second-generation AirTag by the end of the following year.Kuo believes that the new AirTag will integrate more seamlessly with Apple's upcoming augmented reality glasses, Vision Pro, as part of the spatial computing ecosystem. Unfortunately, he did not provide any additional details or disclose any other potential new features for Apple's new item tracking accessory.
The current AirTag is equipped with Apple-designed U1 chip for Ultra Wideband, enabling the Precision Finding feature that displays distance and direction to the AirTag. Kuo has indicated that the upcoming models may feature upgraded Ultra Wideband chips, suggesting that Apple may be planning to upgrade the U2 chip for both iPhone and AirTag.
With over a year left until the release of the second-generation AirTag, we can expect to see more information about this accessory emerging in the coming time.
