The current AirTag is equipped with Apple-designed U1 chip for Ultra Wideband, enabling the Precision Finding feature that displays distance and direction to the AirTag. Kuo has indicated that the upcoming models may feature upgraded Ultra Wideband chips, suggesting that Apple may be planning to upgrade the U2 chip for both iPhone and AirTag.
With over a year left until the release of the second-generation AirTag, we can expect to see more information about this accessory emerging in the coming time.
