While iPhones with notches contain components for Face ID, the MacBook Pro's notch doesn't have specialized biometric sensors like iPhones. Instead, it houses various other sensors beyond just the webcam.
A user named David Pogue posted images on Twitter, suggesting it's the camera module of the new MacBook Pro. The images show that the notch on the MacBook Pro screen not only includes a 1080p camera but also LED lights, TrueTone sensors, and ambient light sensors.

Specifically, the arrangement of sensors from left to right is the TrueTone sensor and ambient light sensor, followed by the 1080p camera, and finally the LED light.
TrueTone is tasked with measuring color and light in the surrounding environment, then using that information to automatically adjust the screen's white balance. TrueTone technology was first introduced on the iPad Pro 2016 and is now available on both iPhones and MacBooks.
The ambient light sensor adjusts the brightness of the screen and the backlight of the keyboard, while the LED light next to the camera serves as an indicator light when the camera is in use. All these components were previously 'hidden' by thick bezels, but now they're housed within the notch.
If Apple were to include components for Face ID, the notch on the MacBook Pro would be slightly wider. This is because Face ID requires at least two more sensor components to function properly.
