Alongside the debut of the first Nexus 9 tablet, Android 5.0 Lollipop was unveiled. There is still no precise information about the first device to upgrade to Android 5.0, but speculations point to the Nexus 5 or Nexus 10.
Formerly known as Android L, Android 5.0 Lollipop was initially introduced in June 2014, showcasing groundbreaking features in the entirely new Material Design language. However, Android 5.0 Lollipop is still compatible with low-configured Android devices.
Android 5.0 Lollipop incorporates an encryption mechanism from the beginning, enhancing maximum information security. Users can create multiple user accounts on a single device, and the smart lock screen allows access to notifications without unlocking the phone screen.
Google will implement a new multitasking style called Overview for Android 5.0. This multitasking style allows users to view the detailed app history, with apps displayed in separate tabs, similar to the design of Chrome mobile.
To check if your device has received the update, go to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now. If you're fortunate enough to be among the first to receive the update, remember to back up your data before proceeding with the update.
