At the RM Sotheby's Monterey auction in Monterey, California (USA), it was sold for a record-breaking $3.6 million. This amount far exceeds previous predictions, making the 911 Sally Special the priciest Porsche ever auctioned. As the auction was conducted over the phone, the identity of the car's owner remains undisclosed. Naturally, the unique purpose of this unparalleled vehicle for personal transportation or display elsewhere is unclear.

The entire proceeds from the auction will be donated to two charitable organizations: one for young women and another for UNHCR, an organization assisting Ukrainian refugees in the USA. The Porsche 911 Sally Special is developed based on the platform of the most powerful version in the 911 lineup, the 911 Carrera GTS. What sets this vehicle apart is Porsche's pioneering effort in bringing a movie character to life.

The name Sally in the car's title comes from Sally Carrera - a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera, a talking car featured in Pixar's immensely popular animated film - Cars. Despite Cars being released only 16 years ago, the 911 Carrera that inspired the character Sally Carrera is 20 years old. To commemorate this special milestone, Pixar collaborated with Porsche to develop a real-life Sally Carrera.
