One day, the old man dreamed of two dogs disappearing suddenly from the town. Local goddess Kempamma whispered to him to build a temple to express reverence to the Dog God. It is believed that the Dog God will protect the village and the town of Channapatna.
Inside the temple, two statues of the Dog God are cared for and worshiped every day. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are special days here. Many people flock to the temple, bringing special offerings to the gods.

To the southwest lies Mysore, a city with famous temples and palaces that attract a large number of tourists.
From New Delhi, travelers can reach Karnataka by air, taking 4 hours. The airfare starts from 68 USD one way. If traveling by bus, it may take 2 days, but it's cheaper, ranging from 18 to 28 USD one way.
Alternatively, you can also take a train, taking about 40 hours, with fares ranging from 37 to 47 USD one way. Although the train journey is long, travelers have time to admire the scenery on both sides of the India.
