Partition and Disk Functionality in Machine Ghosting
Step 1: Insert the Hiren BootCD into the CD drive or USB drive to Boot.
Tip: If your computer lacks a CD/DVD drive, you can create a bootable USB with Hiren BootCD.
To access the Boot interface, you need to enter the Bios to select the first boot device = CD-ROM or USB. You can also use hotkeys depending on your system such as: ESC, F2, F10, F12 to enter the Boot menu. Then select Dos Programs.
Step 2 To initiate Ghosting, we must select Backup Tools or option 2.
Next, choose Norton Ghost 11.5 or press key 6.
In the subsequent step, you should select Ghost (Normal) or press key 8.
Step 3 Upon entry, you'll encounter the Symantec Ghost 11.5.1 interface. Press OK
Step 4 A selection table from Symantec will appear, featuring the main functionalities of Ghost, namely Partition and Disk in both Local and other areas. Simply click on :
Step 5 The Action table will display here, presenting 2 options for creating and deploying ghosts using Partition or Disk.
Step 6 Create (To Image) and deploy (From Image) ghost files with Disk by selecting Disk.
Step 7 Create (To Image) and deploy (From Image) ghost files with Partition by selecting Partition.
Step 8 Proceed to select the drive for ghosting or reinstallation. Here, you choose the correct drive containing the operating system to create a duplicate (for creating ghost files) or reinstall (for deploying ghost files).
Step 9 To create a ghost file, select To Image --> choose the drive to capture the image from --> select the storage location for this ghost file (in .ghost format).
Step 10 To deploy a ghost file, select From Image --> choose a file with the (.ghost) format --> Press Enter to ghost.
Additionally, within the Disk table, there's To Disk, and within the Partition table, there's To Partition, which serve similar ghosting functions as From Image. They perform Ghosting from one partition to another.
