The Sea Theater – Hang Nhà Trò amidst the vast ocean of Vân Đồn
In recent years, tourism in Vân Đồn has been rapidly developing, yet The Sea Theater still awaits awakening. Therefore, to reach here, tourists must travel by small boats. Even the locals are unsure about the exact origin of the name “Nhà Trò”. The entrance to the cave is narrow, nestled against the mountain, but as you venture deeper, the cave opens up wider.

Although there are no written records about the name of the cave, it is evident that “Nhà Trò” is a place where entertainment activities take place, much like a modern-day theater, from the entrance to the main area of the cave. There are numerous stalactites resembling animal shapes, and inside the cave, there is a space of about 50 square meters that greatly resembles a stage area.

Around this open space, there are stalactites arranged like velvet curtains, with entrances on both sides, and there are stalactites shaped like strange creatures or whimsical human heads on either side.

Not only does Hang Nhà Trò boast a wide dome, but it also stands out with its stalactites and white crystal-like formations, shimmering like crystal curtains. The wide central area of the cave features numerous large and small rock columns, resembling pillars in theaters.

In addition to its aesthetic value, Hang Nhà Trò is also an archaeological site. According to research by the Vietnamese Institute of Archaeology, archaeologists have found various types of round and flat snail shells, believed to be the main food source of prehistoric people. Also found in the fossil layer are sandstone grinding tools dating back 5 to 7 thousand years.

Furthermore, discoveries in Hang Nhà Trò include pottery shards, ancient pottery dating back 5 - 6 thousand years, and stone adzes. The Institute of Archaeology confirms that Hang Nhà Trò is a tributary of the Hòa Bình culture, a significant site in archaeological research.

The discovery of Hang Nhà Trò serves as solid evidence shedding light on the origins of the early Hạ Long culture, emerging as early as the old Stone Age and spanning through the new Stone Age belonging to the Hòa Bình culture thousands of years ago.

Exploring Hang Nhà Trò can be quite challenging, so travelers should prepare carefully before the trip, bringing bright flashlights to illuminate the way and preparing cameras for capturing timeless photos.
