Angelina Jolie opted out of choosing this beauty due to her appearance, despite being very beautiful herself.
In 2014, Disney's film Maleficent brought a fresh perspective to the famous Sleeping Beauty tale, focusing on the antagonist. While Angelina Jolie portrayed Maleficent, the film also featured the beautiful Princess Aurora, played by Elle Fanning. With her ethereal portrayal, Elle Fanning was hailed as the 'most beautiful Disney princess' to ever grace the silver screen.
However, this role nearly went to another equally stunning actress.

In reality, in 2014 when Maleficent was in production, a beautiful blonde actress auditioned for the role of Princess Aurora. That actress was none other than Anya Taylor-Joy. Unfortunately, Anya was unlucky and left behind a painful memory for herself.
Anya once shared: 'It was the first time I faced rejection, a real rejection. It was even an opportunity from Disney. Although I didn't resemble Angelina Jolie, losing out made me cry for a very long time.'

In Maleficent, Angelina Jolie not only took on the lead role but also participated in a production capacity. To create a film faithful to the Disney animation, Angelina Jolie chose Elle Fanning over Anya Taylor-Joy based on appearance. Furthermore, in terms of reputation, Elle was still the more famous name.

Despite missing out on the opportunity to become Princess Aurora, Anya Taylor-Joy has had an incredibly successful career, participating in numerous major projects such as The VVitch, Queen's Gambit, The New Mutants, etc. She is considered one of the new darlings of Hollywood, and discussions are underway for her to become Harley Quinn in the upcoming installment of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson.

Additionally, Anya Taylor-Joy has a flair for fashion, alongside Elle Fanning, becoming sought-after fashion icons on the red carpet. However, when it comes to acting, Anya seems to have the edge, being highly regarded by industry professionals, whereas Elle Fanning is seen as merely beautiful and superficial in her roles, missing out on many significant opportunities in recent years.
