Recipe for Delicious Tomato Beef Dish
Step 1:
When purchasing beef, ensure to thoroughly salt and rinse it with cold water to eliminate any dirt and unpleasant odors. Then, grind the beef until smooth. If you lack a grinder, you can easily find pre-ground beef packages in supermarkets. Next, transfer the beef to a bowl and marinate it with 2 teaspoons of tasty fish sauce + 2 teaspoons of seasoning powder + 1 teaspoon of MSG, mixing well. Let it marinate for approximately 10 minutes for even absorption.

Step 2:
While waiting for the meat to marinate, let's get started on preparing the remaining ingredients. Soak the shiitake mushrooms in warm water until they plump up, then trim off the stems and finely dice them. Rinse the tomatoes thoroughly, remove the seeds, and dice them. For the scallions, pluck the green tops, wash them, and finely chop the leaves. Split the white bulbs of the scallions into thin strips. Peel and clean the dried shallots, then finely chop them.

Step 3:
Once the meat is done marinating, transfer it to a bowl along with the soaked shiitake mushrooms, dried scallions, and finely chopped scallion greens. Remember to reserve some scallion greens for garnishing the dish later. Use chopsticks to thoroughly mix the ingredients with the meat. Wash your hands well, then shape the beef mixture into bite-sized balls by hand, aiming for even, round shapes for an appealing presentation.

Step 4:
To prevent the beef balls from breaking apart while simmering in tomato sauce, we need to fry the beef edges first. Heat a pan over medium heat and add about 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the beef balls and fry them evenly on all sides until they turn golden brown. Then, gently transfer the beef balls to a plate.
Step 5:
Using the same frying pan, heat up the oil again and sauté the tomatoes until they soften. Add about 1/2 cup of water to the pan, bring it to a boil, and use a fork to mash the tomatoes into a smooth sauce, creating a glossy red tomato sauce. Season with salt and a pinch of seasoning powder to taste. Then, add the partially fried beef balls to the sauce and use a spatula to coat them evenly. Simmer over low heat for about 5 - 10 minutes to allow the beef to absorb the flavors of the sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Once done, turn off the heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with some chopped scallions and white onion heads to add color and visual appeal to the dish.

With just a few simple steps, we can enjoy a delicious and flavorful dish for a delightful dinner. This beef ball in tomato sauce is particularly loved by children. Each tender beef ball, combined with the fragrant aroma of shiitake mushrooms and dried scallions, when immersed in the rich tangy tomato sauce, guarantees that every bite will be a delight for anyone who tastes it.
