Genuine yoga enthusiasts always inquire: “How can one find an excellent yoga instructor?” This question can be quite perplexing in today's yoga landscape. Although seemingly straightforward, the answer is anything but.
Firstly, excellence is a vague and elusive measure when used in this context. What constitutes excellence is subjective. Your life experiences, cultural background, biases, preferences, etc., will all contribute to what you deem as excellent, superb, poor, good, etc.

Excellence is a nebulous and challenging metric to employ in today's context. (Source: Internet)
Furthermore, I believe you don't need a plethora of excellent yoga instructors to help you practice yoga. You just need a few genuinely knowledgeable and authentic individuals in this field.
What you need to do is replace 'excellent' with 'reliable'. Look for a 'reliable' yoga instructor. Someone can appear excellent on the surface. This is easily achieved with today's marketing tools and social media. Just like a dish may look appetizing on the menu or in a social media post but can disappoint when you taste it. Becoming reliable requires more effort. Before you hunt for a yoga instructor on social media.
Remember this when seeking an excellent yoga instructor...
Some ways for you to find an 'excellent' yoga instructor online...

Seek out a 'trustworthy' yoga instructor. (Source: Internet)
1. Ask a yoga instructor you trust for their advice.
This means from the outset, your yoga instructor is someone you can rely on.
2. Monitor the personal profile of the yoga instructor.
Some outstanding instructors, with profound knowledge and foundation, are dedicated to yoga.
3. Learn to distinguish between social media-famous yoga instructors and those with deep knowledge.

Social media makes us lazy. But don't judge a book by its cover when you see the number of followers. Teachers are just guiding lights. Not the answer to all your problems. Each teacher should only give you the timeless wisdom of yoga. Not their interpretation of it.
4. Avoid falling into titles and credentials.
While these may be suitable in some contexts, they are not the only things. There are many excellent yoga instructors without high professional qualifications. But they can teach you more yoga poses in 5 minutes than you learn in 5 years. It's very easy to get authentic information attached to your name in yoga. Anyone can do that. But it doesn't prove much.
5. Read timeless yoga books by trustworthy authors.
If you can't find a teacher. Check the class schedule, teacher, and depth of work. Are they connecting you to the timeless nature of yoga? Do you feel more peaceful from these interactions?

Don't expect or rely on yoga teachers. YOU must practice. (Source: Internet)
But most importantly, don't expect or rely on yoga teachers. YOU must practice. It might be challenging, messy, confusing, and even dry. But yoga is a practice. No one can give it to you – you have to practice it, break it down, realize it, and live it.
Distinguish between gathering information and absorbing knowledge. Anyone can gather information about yoga. But true knowledge comes from the guiding light of a teacher, the assimilation, and the ever-continuing fund of knowledge.
No matter how skilled a yoga teacher is, if they don't take the time to 'apply' what they've learned, they can't teach yoga to anyone.
My sincerest wish is that you find trustworthy, humble, wise yoga instructors who will deepen your journey after each interaction.
