Owners of 12th generation Intel CPUs can now rest assured as ASRock announces BIOS updates enabling future compatibility with Raptor Lake CPUs on their 600 Series motherboards.ASRock has released UEFI/BIOS updates for at least 47 motherboard models based on Intel's 600 Series chipset, paving the way for support of Intel's next-generation processors.
ASRock recently unveiled their latest 700 Series motherboards, featuring the H770 and Z790 chipsets with the option to support either DDR4 or DDR5 RAM. Upgrading to these new motherboards introduces the D-LVR feature, alongside the main VR, which helps reduce CPU input voltage, thereby lowering power consumption. Researchers suggest that D-LVR could decrease CPU voltage by up to 160 mV, translating to a 20% to 25% reduction in processor power consumption, resulting in a 21% decrease in CPU voltage and approximately 7% performance increase.Raptor Lake, the successor to Alder Lake, features the LGA 1700 socket and offers more cores along with new acceleration features like Efficient TVB, per-core OC TVB, and package OC TVB (Thermal Velocity Boost). Recent leaks shed light on the power of the Core i9-13900, boasting 24 cores and 32 processing threads, with a massive 68 MB cache, promising improved gaming performance. Earlier, SiSoftware tested the ES version of the Core i9-13900, which despite its modest clock speed (3.75 GHz), delivers impressive performance.
