Microsoft recently released a new preview build for users deployed in the Fast Ring, accompanied by some enhancements for Storage Settings.
The preview build includes suggestions for cleaning up new users in Storage Settings to help you remove unused apps and files. Updated Storage Settings will feature a new page called Cleanup recommendation, where users can find a list of large and unused files along with detailed storage information.
While Windows still can't predict whether users should delete their personal files, Storage Settings will gather all potential candidates based on their size and usage.
For instance, Storage Settings will include large or unused files from your computer in cleanup suggestions, and you can remove them with just a few mouse clicks.
Microsoft is also working on another change to improve the cleanup feature of Storage Sense. In the preview build, Microsoft has introduced a change that will prevent Storage Sense from deleting Downloads when the folder is synchronized with a cloud storage service provider like OneDrive.
According to Microsoft, 'Based on feedback, if the Downloads folder is synced with a cloud service provider, we are disabling the option for Storage Sense to automatically clear your Downloads folder on a cycle.'
Following Microsoft's typical release schedule, the Windows 10 20H2 update is expected to begin rolling out in October or November.
