Sam Altman, acknowledged as the 'founder' of ChatGPT, has been ousted, stepping down from the CEO position at OpenAI on November 18.
Sam Altman, recognized as the 'architect' of ChatGPT, has been dismissed from the CEO role at OpenAI following a deliberate review by the company's board. OpenAI's announcement on the early morning of November 18 stunned the AI community.
According to the announcement, the company's board concluded that Mr. Altman was inconsistent and straightforward in communication with the board, impeding his ability to fulfill his responsibilities and, therefore, not trusted to lead OpenAI.
The CEO position will be temporarily entrusted to the Chief Technology Officer, Mira Murati, with immediate effect. The company will initiate the search for a long-term successor in the coming period.
