2023 witnessed the release of numerous titles, but it also brought forth an abundance of terrible games. Here are 4 titles that Mytour believes gamers should steer clear of due to their abysmal quality—even playing them cracked feels like a waste of money!

Forspoken
While other games mentioned in this list often have low budgets and little fame, Forspoken stands out as a heavily invested game by Square Enix, carrying high expectations. However, beyond its visually stunning graphics, all other aspects of the game only disappoint gamers. Therefore, when it was released in early 2023, gamers knew it was definitely one of the worst games this year.

Forspoken belongs to the open-world action genre, but even its world fails to captivate gamers. The storyline and voice acting don't add much excitement, while the characters, both main and supporting, are simply unlikable. Combat sequences are considered the game's saving grace, but somehow the development team managed to create an incredibly confusing game, with flashy but disorienting visual effects that fail to help gamers understand what they're doing and where they are.
Rise of Kong
In the final days of 2023, the officially licensed 'King Kong' game Rise of Kong unexpectedly hit the market. This game puts players in Kong's revenge journey, as his parents were swallowed whole by the giant monster Gaw. To defeat the enemy, the oversized ape must roam Skull Island to eliminate various monsters before finally tearing Gaw apart in the ultimate battle.

Sounds enticing, but Rise of Kong is an indescribably bad game, on par with the 'super-trash' Gollum. We know that with a game about giant monsters, the highlight should be those creatures, but the game fails from the get-go. It fails to create a convincing environment that makes players feel like they're truly controlling an oversized monster. Even the 'oversized' part is questionable due to the incompetence of the development team. You'll notice that Kong is often not taller than a tree, while the dense foliage can easily be half the size of the 'giant' creature you're supposed to be controlling.
Wanted: Dead
Wanted: Dead introduces players to Soleil's debut game, a team with members who previously worked on the captivating Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden editions. The game follows Hannah Stone, a supposedly anti-violence (?) cop in Hong Kong, yet she's always armed to the teeth. Hannah can dispatch her enemies with finesse, much like a sushi chef slicing fish on a cutting board. The development team advertised the game with dozens of combo moves to defeat various enemies, considering it the game's main highlight.

Those who love hack-and-slash action, who were once hooked on Sifu (2022), were eagerly anticipating these sweet words. However, when the game was released, it was truly a bucket of cold water dumped on gamers' heads. The game tries to do everything but does nothing well, including a large number of bugs where enemy debris 'floats' everywhere, non-stop but repetitive combat sequences, and terrible camera angles that make it difficult for players. Wanted: Dead's bright spots are perhaps the fun segments between missions, where Hannah meets interesting and quirky NPCs, along with some initial combat phases before you get bored of the game.
Crime Boss Rockay City
Back in late 2022, when first seeing the images of Crime Boss Rockay City at The Game Awards 2023, the author thought it was GTA 6. Even knowing it wasn't the next installment of the GTA series, Mytour still hoped it would be an open-world action game on crime worth the enthusiasm of gamers. Especially with the appearance of some famous Hollywood stars, it excited fans of crime-themed games even more.

But upon release, Crime Boss Rockay City disappointed everyone. It felt more like a shoddy version of Payday 3 (which was already a shoddy game) than GTA. The gameplay was riddled with bugs and monotony, while the storyline was almost non-existent. The game being exclusive to the Epic Games Store only made the main characters feel more like 'generic good guys' rather than the crime bosses of Rockay City. This game deserves a spot in the list of the worst games of 2023, no question.
