Autumn in Hanoi to me is...
There are many different definitions of autumn. Some say it's the season when the capital city changes its attire, others believe it's the season for lovers. For me, autumn brings back drifting memories and emotions, and autumn in Hanoi is...

... are the little things that are full of love.
Autumn in Hanoi is when green rice flakes arrive
When mentioning autumn in Hanoi, one cannot overlook the delicate gift of fragrant new rice flakes called 'green rice'. For a long time, green rice has been a familiar delicacy of the capital's thousand-year-old civilization, but during autumn, green rice is the greenest, most fragrant, and most delicious.

Autumn in Hanoi - The season of fragrant green rice.
Along the familiar ancient streets, it's easy to spot graceful ladies carrying small baskets, adorned with fresh rice bunches and vibrant lotus leaves. When buying green rice, people also buy a bit of it, savoring it slowly as if wanting to embrace the full flavor of this intense autumn.

Following us from sidewalk cafes to familiar street tea stalls, holding hands with our loved ones, savoring the sweet aroma of green rice alongside a glass of tamarind juice in the autumn weather of Hanoi, it's simply delightful!

Autumn in Hanoi is the old streets with ancient houses, nestled side by side...
Autumn doesn't make the old streets, ancient houses more beautiful but walking under the autumn air, one can feel more of the old soul in the simple beauty here. A stroll through the 36 streets on the first day of autumn reveals the true beauty of Hanoi. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the capital city, there are still many peaceful countryside scenes to be found!

Beautiful as a peaceful countryside painting.

The old yellow walls evoke many memories.
The ancient roofs, the mossy yellow walls bear witness to the many ups and downs of history. Hanoi remains, autumn remains, and the old streets and ancient houses also stand silently there.

Autumn in Hanoi is when milk flowers bloom, filling the air with fragrance...
Not only a sign, milk flowers are also a symbol of autumn. With their incredibly intense fragrance blending into the gentle breeze, even the most unsuspecting person can feel dizzy. Despite their selective fragrance, milk flowers still captivate the hearts of romantics like a fiercely proud maiden.

Milk flowers are a symbol of autumn.
Who in Hanoi could forget the streets overflowing with pure white, unadorned yet still emitting fragrances that bring back memories? The scent of milk flowers in every breeze makes anyone caught up in the whirlwind of life want to pause for a few moments to relax their soul and embrace the autumn breeze.

Autumn in Hanoi is a glass of sugarcane juice with tapioca pearls...
When autumn arrives, if you visit the fabric shops, don't forget to stop by the ancient sugarcane juice stall. Sugarcane juice is available year-round, yet people insist on enjoying sugarcane juice with tapioca pearls under the chilly weather of September and October. A refreshing glass of sugarcane juice mixed with chewy tapioca pearls, topped with strands of fresh coconut, just three simple ingredients that capture the hearts of many Hanoians. For me, it's not just the 'romance' in that cool flavor, but the feeling of enjoying it on the bustling sidewalk, with the owner on the right spinning sugarcane juice, and on the left, some middle-aged men playing Chinese chess. It's the capital's distinctive atmosphere that makes it truly special. You can't help but exclaim, 'Sugarcane juice with tapioca pearls is as sweet as the land of Hanoi now.

Autumn in Hanoi is a cluster of paper flowers blooming in a corner of the sky...
Thinking of paper flowers brings to mind a corner of vibrant colors and scents, under the gentle autumn sunlight, paper flowers seem more beautiful than ever. Despite blooming year-round, people still dream of a romantic Hanoi street immersed in the colors of late autumn flowers. Not as bustling as lilies, nor as flamboyant as phoenix flowers in May, paper flowers gracefully adorn the golden walls, embracing countless affections.

Paper flowers are incredibly easy to grow, simply planting a stem can sprout shoots and flourish. Gentle yet resilient, that's why people often associate paper flowers with old houses witnessing the capital's daily changes. One early morning in the early autumn, don't forget to stroll around the streets and capture some memorable photos under the serene paper flower clusters!

Autumn in Hanoi is a cup of early autumn coffee...
'Hanoi is perhaps most beautiful in autumn' is a saying often passed around in the early days of September. The cool morning air beside a hot cup of coffee is wonderful, wonderful like how everyone misses autumn!

Under the autumn sky, people don't need hustle and bustle, they quietly enjoy a cup of coffee imbued with cultural beauty. Perhaps the ideal time for coffee is early morning, when the streets are still immersed in the breath of dawn. Coffee to share warm hugs, coffee to start a new day full of energy, and coffee to breathe in the dreamy beauty of autumn.

Autumn in Hanoi is a 'golden' season...
People often say autumn is the season of changing clothes, with streets adorned in golden silk. Whether living in the capital or coming from afar, many photographers are enchanted by Hanoi in the middle or end of autumn to witness the harmony of earth and sky, capturing breathtaking photos.

Strolling along Phan Dinh Phung Street or Hoang Dieu Street, one can easily see the vibrant autumn colors on the sidewalks, with fallen leaves spreading golden everywhere like a romantic carpet. Each sunbeam filtering through the leaves gently illuminates the road, making everyone passing by feel excited, 'So autumn has really arrived!'

Everything in autumn seems more affectionate.

Autumn in Hanoi is West Lake on an autumn afternoon...
West Lake is always the place to welcome the 'season' of many couples, especially in the romantic autumn. Despite its vastness, standing at any corner around the lake, you still fully enjoy the sweetness of its ambiance. On an autumn afternoon, try to leave behind the bustling pace of life and wander around West Lake, listening to the peaceful rhythm of Hanoi, and embracing a lot of tranquility.

Autumn in Hanoi is a sun-filled street...
For me, autumn is also about sun-filled streets. Not as scorching as summer, nor as dry as winter, autumn sun brings a refreshing atmosphere that makes everyone feel comfortable.

We stroll around Hoang Dieu and Tran Phu streets 'hunting for sun' in autumn under the shade of trees. Why is autumn so lovely, even under the bright sunlight, people still feel warm-hearted.

Autumn in Hanoi is a glass of iced sour plum juice...
Autumn is also associated with a glass of iced sour plum juice on the sidewalk, a simple and popular beverage. But if you haven't enjoyed a glass of sour plum juice in autumn, you will surely feel like something is missing. Sour plum has become a specialty of this ancient land, and since it only appears once a year, people eagerly anticipate it more than ever.

Returning home brings a timeless rush of emotions.

Hanoi's most beautiful season.
Every return of autumn leaves a profound mark on travelers' hearts, even for those visiting Hanoi for the first time, it brings forth waves of nostalgia. Hanoi wouldn't be itself without its romantic autumn. And Hanoi's autumn is like being amidst a crowd, the heart silently asking, who am I missing...
