Since 2007, Apple has introduced dozens of different iPhone models, but the newest one isn't always the most beautiful. For me, despite the significant changes in the iPhone X, the most beautiful and emotional one is still the iPhone 4. Apple launched the iPhone 4 in 2010 and the 4s a year later, and even now, the vision of Apple at that time still holds many truths. The first iPhone with Retina display, Siri, and a steel body
iPhone 4 marks the inception of high-resolution displays, branded by Apple as Retina. Meanwhile, the 2011 debut of iPhone 4s introduced the world to the first virtual assistant, Siri. Back then, Retina was a compelling hallmark of quality. Transitioning from the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 4, I immediately fell in love with its screen. With double the pixel density, every detail appeared crisp and smooth, unrivaled at the time. Even now, Apple retains the Retina moniker, maintaining a balance without overly inflating resolutions like modern Android devices. Overall, it delivers a solid user experience without unnecessary extravagance.

Square, flat design

Compared to its predecessors, the iPhone 4 boasts a flat, square design, a style revisited by Apple with the iPhone 12 Pro. Unlike the current square design, the iPhone 4 feels more ergonomic to hold, partly due to its smaller size. Its steel casing exudes a rugged charm absent in the glossy finishes of the 12 Pro, 13 Pro, or 14 Pro, which are prone to fingerprints. While this aesthetic may seem outdated, it withstands the test of time, lending the device a robust appearance. Presently, my iPhone 4s shows minimal distortion on this steel frame, a testament to its durability.
Apple's first major design overhaul came with a few hiccups. With the release of the iPhone 4 in 2010, the antenna design inadvertently led to reduced signal reception when users held the device. Steve Jobs claimed users were holding it wrong, but in reality, no one was. Apple later provided silicone cases to iPhone 4 buyers, and the issue was fully resolved with the iPhone 4s.Memories with iPhone 4
I've owned iPhones since the first generation, but the iPhone 4 holds more memories for me than any other. Even buying the device was memorable. Back then, there weren't as many stores selling iPhones, and getting one was challenging due to high demand. I remember mainly relying on network providers to purchase, where you'd draw lots for a chance to buy at places like Vinaphone or Viettel.

At that time, Steve Jobs hailed the iPhone 4 as the thinnest phone in the world and the first iPhone with a front camera. iPhones then ran on the classic iOS interface, transitioning to the flat design with iOS 7 in 2013. My iPhone 4s could still handle iOS 7, albeit sluggishly, while iOS 6 ran smoothly. The iPhone 4s also marked the end of the old connectivity standard; with the iPhone 5, Apple switched to Lightning, and soon, possibly USB-C.Is it still usable?

The iPhone 4s with the 3.5mm jack. I remember the iPhone 4 being equipped with a powerful internal DAC, making it great for listening to hi-fi music, so many enthusiasts used it for that purpose.
