Upon release, it garnered endless praise from audiences and critics alike for its unparalleled uniqueness within the Marvel series.
Compared to the other 6 releases throughout 2022, Werewolf By Night boasts the most comprehensive score. Certified 'fresh' at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes by both experts and audiences, it holds the highest ratings on Metacritic and IMDb, surpassing even Doctor Strange 2 or the recent Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Despite being a 'special episode,' the runtime and meticulous investment in Werewolf By Night rival that of a conventional cinematic project.
Werewolf By Night may remind many of the familiar Werewolf game, where werewolves infiltrate the human faction to carry out their schemes. The film tells the tale of a fateful night when monster hunters converge at Bloodstone Manor to participate in a fight for survival, aiming to vanquish a monster to claim the prize. It's the Bloodstone Power and the chance to inherit the legacy of the late great hunter Ulysses Bloodstone. However, no one knows that among the 5 contestants, hunter Jack Russell is a werewolf.
With a eerie, mysterious atmosphere and a black-and-white tone throughout, Werewolf By Night easily becomes Marvel's most intriguing experience in recent years. The film exhibits meticulousness in cinematography, visuals, and music. The story is gripping every second, reminiscent of classic horror masterpieces like Dracula or Nosferatu. It can be said that the essence of Marvel in 2022 truly lies within the nearly 100 minutes of Werewolf By Night.
