(Motherland) - 2023 has barely passed two months, yet there has been an abundance of games declaring cessation of operations.
2023 is witnessing dizzying changes in the global gaming industry, with not many positive news. Some highly anticipated blockbusters are continuously postponing their release dates, but notably, the number of games having to cease operations, or even shutting down, is increasing more than ever. In just the first two months of the year, there have been over 15 games announcing cessation of play, many of which leaving much regret for the worldwide gaming community.
Apex Legends Mobile
In early February, EA surprised many by announcing that Apex Legends Mobile will officially cease operations on May 1. The reason was immediately given by the publisher, stating that although Apex Legends Mobile had a strong start, its content system failed to meet the quality, quantity, and pace standards expected by the development team as the game progressed through its lifecycle.

Moreover, all transactions made by players in Apex Legends Mobile will not be eligible for refunds. This information sparked quite a fierce backlash from the Apex Legends Mobile player community at the time.
Babylon's Demise
True to its name, Babylon's Demise has officially crumbled and announced to cease all operations by the end of this February. Once hailed as the next big hit, Square Enix's project failed to meet expectations. At one point, the player count dwindled to a solitary individual.

It's known that all data of Babylon's Demise will be wiped out. Ultimately, this is an inevitable outcome as the game has failed comprehensively. However, with high hopes of becoming a blockbuster, the downfall of Babylon's Demise also leaves behind much regret.
Final Fantasy VII: The Pioneer
Since its debut, Final Fantasy VII: The Pioneer has left some positive impressions within the gaming community. However, since late last year, the game has been deemed to encounter numerous flaws, coupled with a significant decrease in player count. At that time, there were many rumors that Square Enix would shut down this game.

And then, what must come, did. On January 11th, Final Fantasy VII: The Pioneer officially ceased operations. However, according to many, if there's a chance for a PC release, this survival-style Final Fantasy game could completely resurrect and garner attention. But the decision still lies with Square Enix.
