When mentioning Ninh Binh, people often think of Trang An, Tam Coc, Bich Dong, Bai Dinh... But in recent years, Ninh Binh has also become known for another destination called Thung Nham - a place likened to a miniature Southern oasis due to its lush green natural scenery.
Thung Nham Ecotourism Area - Southern oasis in the North

Introduced for commercial operation since March 2013, but after 4 years, Thung Nham remains a fresh destination for most tourists. On average, only about 30 tourists visit here each day for sightseeing and relaxation. Despite the low number of visitors, this is the advantage that makes Thung Nham attractive because visitors can enjoy a relaxing space without being disturbed by the noise like other tourist areas.

Nestled amidst the mountains on the outskirts of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, Thung Nham Ecotourism Area becomes more special thanks to its full convergence of the characteristics of the beautiful landscapes of Ninh Binh. Here, tourists can freely experience ecotourism activities with numerous lakes, pristine forests, and beautiful caves. On the other hand, Thung Nham is also an attractive resort and honeymoon destination for couples with secluded bungalows. Eco-tourism activities such as forest trekking, cave exploration, water sports, bird gardens, or outdoor activities like campfires, fishing... are also very popular. Saying so to see that, despite the mixture of artificial and natural models, Thung Nham has a harmonious combination, making visitors feel excited when coming here.

Although suitable for year-round relaxation, the ideal time to explore Thung Nham is in autumn, when the heat is no longer intense and thin layers of mist embrace the scenery, making this land look unrealistically beautiful. Autumn is also the time when birds return to their nests early in search of food. Around 5 pm, tourists sitting on wooden boats gently gliding on the lake, passing through clusters of bushes leading to the Bird Garden will admire the scene of flocks of birds flying back to nest in the pristine forest area. This is considered the home of many different bird species such as herons, storks, sparrows, stone robins... and even two rare bird species listed in the red book: cranes and phoenixes.
