TikTok introduced family safety mode and app usage management features for its platform in February, aiming to help parents monitor their children's activities on this video-sharing app. These tools were initially offered in the UK, then in Europe, and now they will reach even more users.

TikTok announces the global launch of its Parental Control feature, along with some capabilities within the Family Pairing suite. The new feature allows parents to customize their and their children's safety settings based on what's appropriate for each family member.
Additionally, the app usage management feature limits the time children spend on TikTok each day, along with some videos from partner content creators automatically appearing to remind users to take breaks from the app. The Restricted Mode tool also blocks inappropriate content from appearing on the app, and Direct Messages allow parents to restrict who can message their children or entirely remove the ability to message them. Moreover, users under 16 years old will not be able to use direct messaging starting from April 30.
Family Pairing will roll out globally in the coming weeks. To use this feature, parents must link their child's account to theirs.
