TikTok introduced global parental control features last year to help parents ensure their children have a safe experience on the popular TikTok platform for creating and sharing videos. As part of that effort, the service also introduced the Family Pairing feature, allowing parents to customize safety settings for their children's accounts. That capability was enhanced in November last year, and now TikTok is intensifying efforts even further to protect children when using its service.

In the past, TikTok collaborated with various organizations to address issues arising on the platform. For instance, the company recently partnered with the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), along with Instagram, to assist those affected by eating disorders. To ensure the safety of children, TikTok also collaborates with several different organizations to promote this goal, including Family Online Safety Institute, ConnectSafely, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, WePROTECT Global Alliance, DQ Institute, and Internet Watch Foundation.

The service once again highlights some of their existing measures developed to protect teen users on the TikTok platform. For example, accounts of users aged 13-15 are set to private by default, and only users aged 16 and above can go live and send direct messages. Joining the Technology Coalition is a commendable step in that direction.
