Tips for Climbing Rook or Castle Rank in Dota Auto Chess
1. Early Game
The top priority in this phase is to minimize the amount of health lost per round and save money simultaneously.
- The most common combo here remains the Goblin Mech lineup, so prioritize picking Clock or BH before moving on to Warrior or Orc classes. A 2-star AM is also a good and relatively safe option when combined with Gob/Mech.
- SF always deals significant damage early in the game, always pick if available. Alongside SF, Lycan is also quite sturdy and powerful at 2 stars. Look to add a few more units like BM, Axe, Jugg to tank for units with high damage output.
- Avoid playing Mage lineup without decent tanks and genuine mages. Genuine mages include SF, Razor, Orge + 2-star puck/aoe mage. Also, refrain from playing Hunter without a 2-star BM because early in the game, their damage output is very weak.
2. Mid and late game
If you don't have a chance to win, abandon the 50 Gold strategy, spend all your money on leveling up or re-rolling units, upgrading units still at 1 star or lacking to reach 3 stars, or minimize the amount of health lost. Sometimes, there are situations where players can come back, reverse the situation, and secure victory with certain units.
3. Team Composition
- Some units are born just to cast their Ult and die, place them up front like Tide, Disruptor, or Enigma. Keep them away if your team has AM and equip them with items to survive, avoiding premature death before casting Ult.
- Medusa is also a pesky DPS unit with her petrifying Ult. If she's 2 stars, you can also place her at the front, but still avoid units with anti-tank skills like Axe, AM.
4. Buying Late Game Units
- Focus on buying units with AOE skills like AoE. Tides, Techies, Enigma, Lich, Gyro. Learn to reduce support units and add suitable 4-5 Gold units. A 2-star Techies equipped with Blink Dagger and some armor can wipe out your entire team.
- Gold management is crucial, the first to reach high levels will have the best chance of acquiring powerful units with the highest drop rates.
- Limit re-rolling in the late game.
