1. Video Trimming

Instead of uploading a new video and losing comments, the original URL, view count, edit your video with YouTube Editor using the following steps:
- Sign in to your YouTube account
- Click on the profile picture in the top right corner
- Select YouTube (Beta)
- If you're using an older version with Creator Studio, click on that
- Then, you can use Beta Studio
- Click on the video tab in the left menu
- Click on the thumbnail of the video you want to edit
- Choose editor in the left menu
- Now, you're in YouTube's video editor, where you can trim the beginning or end of the video. Regardless of which part you want to cut, the process is the same.
- Click on trim to display the green bar at the start and end of your video
- Hover over the green bar until it turns white and shows double arrows. Then, you can drag this bar to the section you want to keep
- Perform the same operation whether you want to cut the beginning or end of the video
- Note that after selection, the cut portion will appear darker than the remaining part of the video.
- Now, click on preview to see the result.
- You can continue editing by clicking on edit trim.
- When you're satisfied with the YouTube video edits above, click save. The portion marked (in the image above) will be cut from your video.
- After clicking split, you'll find another white bar appearing similar to when you cut the beginning or end. Drag this white bar to the endpoint of the section you want to split.
If desired, you can cut multiple different sections within the same video simultaneously.
- Click preview to preview the edits you've made.
- Click edit trim if you want to continue editing your YouTube video.
- When satisfied, select save.
Do not click the 'x' button within the area you just selected. You won't be able to cut that portion; instead, the selection area will disappear.
You won't be able to save the edited video without previewing it first. The save button will be grayed out. However, once you've previewed your edits, the save button will turn green, and you can save the video.
2. Sound Editing
Editing sound or background music of a YouTube video is a fairly simple task. You can change or add music to your video from over 150,000 free tracks on YouTube using the following steps:
- Using the video editor above, find the music note section and click on the dropdown next to it.
- When you click on the green sound button, you'll be taken to another screen.
- Choose one of the tracks provided by YouTube. You can filter by genre, mood, or duration.
- Once you've selected a track you like, click add to video, then select save. That's it, you've successfully edited.
