Rice cookers are indispensable appliances in Vietnamese households. However, not everyone knows the proper way to use them. Here are some tips from Mytour to help you out.
1. Wipe the exterior of the rice cooker dry before use
Before putting rice into the cooker, make sure the exterior surface is dry to prevent it from getting burnt or discolored. This will maintain the aesthetic appeal of your rice cooker.

2. Place the inner pot evenly into the cooker
When placing the pot, ensure it sits evenly to avoid disrupting the heat distribution. Use both hands to lower the pot carefully. Then, gently rotate the pot to ensure even cooking and prevent burning.
3. Minimize reheating rice
Reheating rice can affect the lifespan of the magnet. It can cause the relay to switch inaccurately, resulting in burnt or undercooked rice.

4. Avoid blocking steam vents while cooking
When an electric rice cooker is cooking rice, do not block the steam vents or open the lid. After the rice is cooked, open the lid and fluff the rice with a spoon, then cover the lid again to keep the rice warm.
5. Do not scrape rice in the pot or stir rice with sharp objects
These seemingly harmless habits can lead to unexpected consequences. Using sharp utensils to stir rice can cause the non-stick coating of the pot to peel off, making it easy to damage and affecting the flavor of the rice. The rice will become mushy, unevenly cooked, sticking to the pot, making it difficult to clean and leading to contact with hot plates.

Placement of the rice cooker
The rice cooker should be placed in a dry, well-ventilated area with a flat surface, free from moisture and mold, and away from other heat sources to ensure stable and efficient operation.
