1. Introduction to the Cần Giờ - Vũng Tàu Train
The Cần Giờ – Vũng Tàu train route connects Ho Chi Minh City and Vũng Tàu. Currently, the train departs from the Tắc Suất ferry terminal, located in the town of Cần Thạch, Cần Giờ district, and arrives at Vũng Tàu City near the headquarters of the Vũng Tàu Port Authority, in Ward 1, Vũng Tàu City.

In reality, the train route began trial operations during Christmas in 2020. On December 19, 2020, the train was inaugurated. It officially started operating on January 4, 2021.
Since its inception, this route has become a favored means of transportation for many tourists and local residents traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City - Vũng Tàu route. It has significantly contributed to making travel to Vũng Tàu more convenient for residents of Cần Giờ district and some neighboring areas.

Overall, this route is considered a crucial transportation link in the Southern Vietnam transportation network. It helps alleviate traffic congestion on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thành - Dầu Giây expressway while significantly reducing travel time. Previously, a two-hour journey by car is now just half an hour.
On the other hand, the train route can also contribute to tourism development. Throughout the train journey, you can fully admire the beauty along both sides of the Sác Forest and experience the fresh air.
2. Traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Vũng Tàu by Train
2.1 Leg 1: Downtown Ho Chi Minh City to Cần Giờ Railway Station
Along this route, you can travel by motorcycle/car or by bus.
– Traveling by motorcycle/car:
Traveling by personal vehicle allows you to have control over your time and itinerary. With the assistance of Google Maps, finding your way to the ferry terminal from downtown Ho Chi Minh City is not difficult.
The route to Cần Giờ is as follows: Starting from the central districts, you will take Ham Nghi Street, cross Khanh Hoi Bridge – proceed along Nguyen Tat Thanh Street – cross Tan Thuan 2 Bridge – turn right onto Nguyen Van Linh Street – Da Khoa Bridge – Nguyen Thi Thap Street. Turn left onto Huynh Tan Phat Street, cross Binh Khanh Ferry to reach Cần Giờ. This journey takes approximately 1 hour.

– Traveling by bus
This is also a decent suggestion for you. However, if you choose to take the bus, it will take more time (1h30m) as the bus stops to pick up passengers frequently.
You can opt for the bus departing from Ben Thanh Market, take bus number 20 to Nha Be. The bus will stop at Binh Khanh ferry. At Binh Khanh ferry, you need to cross and catch bus number 90 to the last stop in Can Gio.
Note: The bus terminal is about 2km away from Tac Suat – Can Gio ferry terminal. You can take a motorbike taxi to avoid walking!
2.2 Leg 2: Can Gio Ferry Terminal – Vung Tau
Once you arrive at Can Gio, simply purchase tickets at the ferry terminal at the listed price. The journey on the ferry takes only 30 minutes.

5. Schedule for the Cần Giờ – Vũng Tàu Train
In reality, this is the Cần Giờ – Vũng Tàu waterway route, with a distance of about 15km. Therefore, the travel time from the Tắc Suất ferry terminal to Vũng Tàu City is not too long, about 30 minutes.
The Cần Giờ – Vũng Tàu train operates from 6 am to 6 pm, with the last trip of the day departing around 5 pm.
