1. Tips for Using Electric Fans Without Harming Your Health
Electric fans are household appliances found in almost every Vietnamese household, particularly useful on hot summer days. However, many people still make mistakes when using this device, leading to adverse health effects.
1. Avoid Direct Fan Exposure

Direct and continuous exposure to the fan may momentarily make you feel cooler, but it can be detrimental to your health. The reason is that your skin's surface, when constantly exposed to the fan's air, loses sweat faster, disrupting the body's sweat secretion balance, leading to internal organ disturbances and resulting in headaches and fatigue. The advice is to use the fan with oscillation mode and position it in a way that ensures effective cooling without being too close to the body.
2. Limit Running the Fan at Maximum Speed

When the weather gets extremely hot, many people opt to turn on the fan at its highest speed. This is very harmful as it lowers the skin surface temperature, clogs pores, prevents sweat from escaping, making the body feel even hotter and more exhausted. Therefore, the advice is to limit running the fan at high speed, and if you do so, make sure to keep the fan at an appropriate distance from the body, not too close.
3. Avoid Using the Fan When Sweating Excessively

If you have a habit of using the fan when your body is sweating heavily (due to walking in from the hot sun, after heavy labor, exercising...) then stop immediately. Because when the body sweats a lot, blood vessels are at their highest dilation, the fan's wind will disrupt the sweating process, causing the blood vessels to suddenly contract, which is extremely dangerous. Therefore, when the body is sweating a lot, you should use a dry towel to wipe away sweat and then turn on the fan from a distance to cool down slowly instead of turning on the fan directly and strongly towards the body.
