Locked iPhones, being considerably cheaper than brand new ones, are the preferred choice for many current iPhone users. However, not everyone knows how to determine which carrier a locked iPhone is locked to.
Guide: Quick Identification of Which Carrier Your iPhone is Locked To
To determine which carrier your iPhone is locked to, let Mytour.vn divide the process into two parts:
Part 1: Identifying American or Japanese Locked iPhones.
Most of the locked iPhones in Vietnam today originate from the US and Japan. However, to be sure, we need to determine American and Japanese locked iPhones as follows:
Step 1: Go to Settings and select General.
Step 2: Next, to determine whether it's an American or Japanese locked iPhone, tap on About, where we can look up device information under Model.
For American locked devices, the last characters in the Model section are usually LL/A.
For Japanese locked devices, the last characters in the Model section are usually J/A.
Part 2: How to Determine Which Carrier Your iPhone is Locked To
Let's explore how to determine which carrier your iPhone is locked to with both Japanese and American locked devices.
* For American Locked iPhones
Step 1: Visit the websites of the three major carriers in the US here:
Sprint carrier website: HERE.
T-Mobile carrier website: HERE.
AT&T carrier website: HERE.
Step 2: Proceed to enter the IMEI code on the device obtained earlier and input as shown below to determine which carrier the locked iPhone belongs to.
If the iPhone Lock check result shows a similar result as shown above, it indicates that your American locked iPhone is not from Sprint carrier.
When checking the iPhone Lock, if the returned result shows a green checkmark icon, it indicates that it belongs to that carrier, as shown in the example above for AT&T carrier.
* For Japanese Locked iPhones
Step 1: Similarly to American locked iPhones, we visit the websites of carriers in Japan as follows:
Docomo carrier website: HERE.
Softbank carrier website: HERE.
AU Kddi carrier website: HERE.
Step 2: Enter the IMEI number obtained from the device and input as shown below to determine the Japanese iPhone Lock's carrier.
If the iPhone Lock check result shows a '-' symbol as in the example above, it means your device does not belong to the checked carrier, as in the example for Softbank carrier.
If the Japanese iPhone Lock check result shows an X symbol as in the example above, it means your device belongs to this carrier, as in this example for Softbank carrier.
We've just completed the steps to understand and identify the carrier lock on iPhones in Vietnam with commonly used Japanese and American locked devices. Hopefully, you've successfully checked your iPhone lock and now know which carrier your device belongs to.
