1. Fed up with aluminum and plastic? HP pioneers the world's first leather-clad laptop.
When acquiring the Spectre Folio, customers no longer need to bother with applying leather skins.

The Spectre Folio represents HP's latest venture in elevating notebook design. True to its name, the Spectre Folio exudes the appearance of a luxurious leather masterpiece, adorned with meticulous stitching and seamlessly fitting seams when closed. Upon opening, you're presented with a device featuring a 13.3-inch display and a full-sized keyboard on a thin metal piece with the hardware neatly tucked beneath.

Leather serves another purpose: enabling the device to transform from a conventional laptop into an upright or folded-down tablet, akin to what leather iPad Pro cases can achieve. The HP Spectre Folio boasts a more flexible hinge, despite its outward resemblance to traditional laptops.

The Folio stands as the first laptop to employ the new 8th-gen Intel series 2 CPU, enabling a fanless design. Collaborating with Intel, HP crafted a motherboard 20% smaller than most laptops. The device features a massive battery, offering up to 19 hours on Core i5 and over 17 hours on Core i7 (LTE version with approximately 14 hours of battery life). The backlit keyboard, front camera with Windows Hello facial recognition, and support for a 4096-pressure touch pen enhance the user experience. Additionally, the Spectre Folio boasts four Bang&Olufsen speakers for outstanding audio.

However, the Spectre Folio's unveiling sparked contrasting opinions. Animal enthusiasts expressed dissatisfaction with the entirely genuine leather casing, as it involves the sacrifice of animals to achieve its aesthetic appeal. Calculations reveal that approximately 28.5 Spectre Folios sold equate to the skin of one slaughtered cow. Considering 2017's business figures, HP might have sold around 480,000 Spectre Folios, equivalent to the lives of 16,842 cows sacrificed for this luxurious exterior.

Users can place orders starting today, with expected delivery by the end of October. The starting price is $1,300 (equivalent to 30 million VND) for the Core i5 version and $1,500 (equivalent to 35 million VND) for the Core i7 LTE-supported model.
