Coffee is a key crop in Tây Nguyên provinces such as Lâm Đồng, Gia Lai, Đắk Lắk, Kon Tum, and Đắk Nông, alongside black pepper, rubber, or cocoa. Annually, over 95% of Vietnam's Robusta or Coffee arabica coffee beans are exported, with the remaining 5% consumed in the domestic market. Check today's coffee prices below.
Today's Fresh Coffee Prices
Vietnam currently stands as one of the leading countries globally in coffee export volume. The United States and Germany are the two largest import markets for raw coffee beans. Additionally, most countries around the world import coffee from Vietnam.
Apart from our country, several other nations also export coffee, such as India, Indonesia, Brazil, and South Africa. However, in terms of export turnover, they cannot match Vietnam.
Similar to gold, black pepper, or cocoa prices, the price of fresh coffee differs from raw coffee beans. The price today is undoubtedly different from yesterday, and it constantly fluctuates according to international market prices. Therefore, monitoring and updating coffee prices online in Vietnam and globally is crucial.
Accordingly, the price of Robusta raw coffee beans varies across districts and provinces in the Tây Nguyên region. Districts like Bảo Lộc, Di Linh, Lâm Hà in Lâm Đồng; Cư M'gar, Ea H'leo, Buôn Hồ in Đắk Lắk; Gia Nghĩa in Đắk Nông; Đắk Hà in Kon Tum; Gia Lai; and Ho Chi Minh City show price differences within the day, although the variation is not significant. Moreover, freshly harvested coffee is priced lower than roasted coffee beans or other coffee varieties like coffee with milk, or mixed coffee.
Understanding the information on today's prices for coffee blends and Robusta coffee, tracking online coffee prices in the Tây Nguyên provinces will help you assess the Vietnamese and international coffee market for appropriate adjustments.
Distinguishing and Selecting Premium Coffee
There are two types of coffee grown in Tây Nguyên and countries worldwide: Arabica and Robusta coffee. We can differentiate between Arabica and Robusta based on cultivation geography, taste, color, and characteristics of the beans.
Fresh Robusta coffee, also known as coffee with milk, has smaller beans than Arabica. It is grown at altitudes below 600m, and after harvesting, it only needs drying. When roasted, it has a darker color and a more bitter taste. On the other hand, Arabica coffee, also known as coffee with milk, is grown at altitudes higher than 600m. After harvesting, it is soaked and expanded before drying. The taste of these beans is slightly sour due to fermentation, and the color is lighter than Robusta.
Once roasted and ground, coffee reaches consumers for enjoyment. But how to choose pure, aromatic coffee without mixing impurities like other powders or flavoring and coloring agents?
Good coffee has light, fluffy, non-clumping powder that floats when dropped into water. The color is not dark but a deep brown, with a pleasant aroma and no harshness. Pure coffee, when brewed, exhibits a characteristic reddish-brown or amber color. Upon tasting, it offers a slightly bitter first note followed by sweetness, making it incredibly enticing.
