1. Invisible Evidence
Invisible Evidence tells the story of a girl named Thu who, during a rainy day, accidentally boards the wrong car of a twisted man and finds herself in the crosshairs of a serial killer. Fortunately, she manages to escape. Rated 18+ with a thrilling mix of suspense and horror, this film excels as a gripping detective thriller, enhanced by its vivid audio and visual quality. The sound of footsteps, raindrops, street vendors, and phone calls in dimly lit scenes create a tense atmosphere that pulls the audience deep into the suspense.
Throughout the movie, viewers experience a range of emotions. First, there's the strength of those who face physical challenges but refuse to give up, instead growing more resilient, responsible, and admirable. Simple lines or small actions can shift the audience's feelings from sympathy to respect for Thu. Second, there's the admiration for Hòa's unwavering faith in his younger colleagues. Hòa is not only a skilled police officer but also one with a deep sense of responsibility, embodying the noble traits of those who risk their lives to protect society.
Third, the movie generates a sense of revulsion towards the twisted criminal, whose warped psychology hides behind a charming exterior, deceiving others. His disturbing scenes make the audience feel cold to the bone. Characters like him symbolize the decay of society, and he deserves no less than to be removed from the world to prevent others from falling victim to his cruelty.
Fourth, there's the warm affection shared by the lonely, as strangers come together to protect one another without fear for their own safety. Finally, the heart-wrenching pain of losing a close friend, as seen in Ben’s sacrifice, moves the audience to admiration and pride.

4. Cha Ma
Cha Ma is a film that tells the story of Nhi, a poor student with no family, dreaming of attending a music school. Nhi starts receiving mysterious messages and sensitive photos taken with her own phone. With no one to turn to, she reaches out to her music teacher for help, but he never responds.

6. The Rainy Sister
The Rainy Sister follows the story of Ha Vy, a high school girl nearing the end of her school years. The male protagonist, Minh Vu, is a student teacher assigned to teach physics to Ha Vy’s class. Little does Minh Vu know, his life has already intersected with Ha Vy’s before their official meeting. Ha Vy catches his attention, not because of her beauty, but because she reminds him of a younger sister he once had.
Ha Vy is captivated by Minh Vu's good looks and his charming dimples. Though she has strong support from her friends Khánh Chi, Mạnh Hiếu, and Duy Hùng, she faces competition from her teacher, Ly, who is also Minh Vu's childhood friend and fellow intern. On top of this, Ha Vy's mother and the school strongly oppose their relationship, even though nothing has transpired between them. Yet, Ha Vy remains the teacher’s 'rainy sister' for now.
The film’s school atmosphere is set in the 2000s, but the director relies heavily on familiar nostalgic tropes—music idols, old-school teen magazines, and iconic radio shows like 'Làn sóng xanh'—elements that have been overused in past school-themed films, making them feel somewhat clichéd to the audience.

7. Eyes Closed, Seeing Summer
Eyes Closed, Seeing Summer tells the story of a young woman who travels alone to the town of Higashikawa in Hokkaido, Japan, to search for her father who mysteriously disappeared. Upon arriving in this snow-covered land during summer, Ha is immediately struck by a deep sadness. However, instead of succumbing to grief, she befriends a group of photography enthusiasts led by a local boy named Akira. Together, they explore the places her father once visited. Throughout their journey, despite language and personality differences, Ha and Akira begin to develop feelings for each other.
The film weaves multiple smaller stories, delving into various relationships among the characters. The love depicted in the movie transcends simple romantic love between Ha and Akira; it also explores the father-daughter bond between Ha and her father, Akira's secret attachment to someone he's trying to forget, and the unspoken yet deep feelings that grow between Ha and Akira.
Eyes Closed, Seeing Summer also raises questions about trust, responsibility, and the hidden burdens each character carries. Many of them harbor painful secrets they try to conceal rather than confront, justifying their flawed choices instead of facing the truth.

8. Mai
Mai is a 2024 Vietnamese film blending comedy, romance, and drama. Directed and co-produced by Trấn Thành, this marks his third feature film after Bố Già and Nhà Bà Nữ.
Mai is a young woman born into a troubled family, with a gambling-addicted father. At the height of her youth, she endures an unimaginable tragedy that forces her to do anything necessary to survive in the glittering city. Fate pushes Mai into becoming a massage therapist, but unlike her colleagues, she 'sells her skill, not her body.' Despite this, she faces harsh judgment, often seen as no more than a prostitute. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Dương, her neighbor. Unlike Mai, Dương is a privileged young man, living a carefree life and seeking inspiration for his artistic pursuits. He is a womanizer, and he initially targets Mai as part of a bet with his friend.
Mai is different from all the women Dương has known. She does not chase after his affection but wants him to stay as far away from her as possible. She claims to be emotionally numb to men and is only focused on making money. Initially, Dương sees Mai as just another challenge, but the more he interacts with her, the more he falls for her. Eventually, he offers her his sincere love, hoping to be with her for life. However, due to their vastly different backgrounds, Mai remains afraid. She views happiness as something unreachable, a distant tomorrow that will never come. Her heart is too scarred to bear any more pain.

9. The Glowing Ashes
The Glowing Ashes is a film that portrays the life on the river, focusing on the love and pain of three women with the men they love. Set in Thơm Rơm, a poor coastal village in Cà Mau, the film draws on the cinematic and cultural elements of the riverine countryside in the Mekong Delta. The story revolves around three women, each experiencing an unusual love life, telling how they love and struggle to hold onto their men. Their tales are a contrast between the turbulent emotions beneath the surface and the calm pride that marks the land they live in.
There are no dramatic psychological twists; the narrative unfolds gently, like a traveler visiting a distant, serene waterway. The story is recounted by a neighboring woman, a life adrift in the poverty-stricken village. It flows like a quiet stream, yet beneath it all are the longings and silent desires for happiness of a wandering soul. This yearning flickers like a fire, consuming the heart. Yet, the coldness and melancholy creep in, filling the spaces between those standing on the sidelines of the story, making us feel as though we have fallen into a quiet moment within that disordered world.
Amidst the vague despair, in the calm yet sorrowful expressions, in a heart that is cold but still longing for love, a woman lets out a cry that tears the soul. 'Look at me. Look into my eyes, my lips, see my body as you did when you first had me in your life.'

10. The Faceless Killer
The Faceless Killer is a thriller about a young, beautiful, and successful surgeon who is being relentlessly pursued by a faceless killer in her dreams. Despite having a perfect life on the outside – wealth, a happy marriage, and a thriving career – her reality is scarred by the trauma of betrayal, harassment, and even assault. These painful experiences, deeply ingrained in her past, continue to haunt her in ways no one could imagine.
In the face of aggressive men who objectify and violate her, the protagonist sometimes loses herself, retreating into silence as if her personal tragedies never occurred. The narrative of the killer’s pursuit, however, is overshadowed by the deeper, more compelling story of her haunted past. Regrettably, this crucial storyline is underdeveloped.
The way Phương Anh uncovers the true identities of those around her is told rather shallowly. Though the character is trapped in her misery for so long, her eventual escape feels overly simplistic. While viewers may sympathize with her heartbreaking journey, the film’s resolution is likely to leave them disappointed.
