7. Honda City: 14,696 units
Honda City also showed quite impressive sales growth in 2022 with 14,696 units sold. This is Honda's B-segment car competing with Vios or Accent. However, the high price and masculine design make the City less accessible to customers and always lag behind Vios and City in the sales race. Honda City is still the version introduced since 2021, using a 1.5L engine combined with a CVT automatic transmission. This B-segment sedan is introduced in 4 versions: E, G, L, and RS with prices ranging from 499 to 599 million VND. The new Honda City is 4,553 mm long, 1,748 mm wide, and 1,467 mm high, with a ground clearance of 134 mm. Compared to the previous version, the length and width of the car increased by 113 mm and 54 mm respectively. If compared to other models in the B-segment Sedan, Honda City is the largest in size. The interior design of Honda City has been redesigned with a straight and flat design similar to the older sibling Honda Civic. Therefore, the cabin enhances aesthetic, modern, and youthful elements, as well as being less prone to 'fashion errors' compared to predecessors. With these dimensions, the Seltos belongs to the larger-sized models in the B-segment CUV, larger than models like the Mazda CX-3, Hyundai Kona, or Ford EcoSport. The B-segment CUV from Kia uses a MacPherson front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension, which is common in urban vehicles nowadays due to its advantages in cost and convenience for repairs if necessary. The braking system of the Seltos uses disc brakes both front and rear, which is an advantage compared to many other B-segment cars that still use drum brakes at the rear.
The cockpit of the KIA Seltos, like many other Kia models, quickly adopts youthful trends and technology. The D-Cut 3-spoke steering wheel is designed sporty, flat-bottomed, and can be adjusted in 4 directions. The Seltos entertainment system features voice command technology, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, etc. Below the entertainment screen are the front air vents and the air conditioning controls. The listed prices for the Mazda 3 range from 669 to 849 million VND. However, since September 2022, the 2.0L engine version has not been newly installed on the Mazda 3 lineup in Vietnam. Mazda Vietnam sold 5,317 CX-5 units in the first 7 months of 2021, averaging nearly 760 units delivered to Vietnamese customers each month, making it a popular SUV in the high-ground segment. The Mazda CX-5 was a pioneering model that ignited the urban SUV segment in Vietnam since 2012. Under Thaco's distribution, the CX-5 gradually became the flagship model of the brand, paving the way for the Vietnamese preference for this model. 10. Hyundai Creta: 12,096 units
Hyundai Creta, a B-SUV contender, is the second newcomer to make it to the top-selling list in 2022. Hyundai Creta was introduced by Hyundai Thành Công at the end of March 2022 in the form of imports from Indonesia before being assembled domestically. Creta comes in 3 versions, all equipped with a 1.5L engine. The price range for Hyundai Creta is from 620 to 730 million VND. Hyundai's new design language applied to Creta as a fresh spice in the market. The vehicle is designed with a square and modern style, suitable for young customers. Creta has overall dimensions: length 4,315 mm, width 1,790 mm, height 1,660 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,610 mm. Compared to its domestic counterpart Kia Seltos, Creta shares the same length and wheelbase, but is slightly narrower by 10 mm and slightly taller by 15 mm. The ground clearance of Creta is at the highest in the segment, reaching 200 mm, while the Seltos is lower at 190 mm. The vehicle is equipped with a Macpherson front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension. This is a common suspension system on urban models such as: Mazda 2, Hyundai Accent, Suzuki Swift, Toyota Yaris… Creta features disc brakes for both front and rear wheels, providing precise handling and enhanced safety.
The interior design of Hyundai Creta 2022 inherits from the new-generation Tucson, bringing freshness and sportiness. The 4-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel is newly designed, with paddle shifters. Behind the steering wheel, Creta installs a 10.25-inch digital display (on the Premium version) that displays comprehensive information and can be adjusted to various interfaces according to the driver's mood. On the Standard and Special versions, there is only an analog instrument cluster combined with a small LCD information display. In the middle of the dashboard is a 10.25-inch touchscreen entertainment system, capable of connecting to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the Premium and Special versions, it will be equipped with automatic air conditioning, while the Standard version will only have manual air conditioning. The leather-wrapped gear lever is adorned with chrome details and black plastic trim. The glove compartment with front seat armrest is of moderate size and quite functional. All 3 versions are equipped with leather seats for a comfortable and snug sitting experience. One regrettable thing about Creta is the lack of power-adjustable driver's seat, even in the highest-grade version. This is clearly a downside of the model when compared to rival models such as Mazda CX-3, Kia Seltos, MG ZS… which all have power-adjustable driver's seats in higher-grade versions.
