Inside, the cabin reflects the modern Hyundai design language, with a youthful vibe and plenty of tech features, including a touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB/Bluetooth connectivity, voice control, and automatic climate control. Overall, while keeping the strengths of previous generations, the 2019 Ford Ranger adds bold and refined features to cater to consumer tastes, influenced by the best-selling Ford F-150. Inside, the Ranger comes equipped with a multifunction steering wheel, a dual-display digital instrument cluster, and Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cabin offers two interior color choices: dark wood or ash. Optional features include 4G LTE Wi-Fi, a B&O Play premium sound system, GPS, LED headlights, and FordPass Connect, which lets users interact with the vehicle through their smartphones to lock/unlock the car, locate it, start it remotely, and check fuel levels. This system also provides in-car Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices.

3. Mazda3 – 1,061 units sold | Price: 669 – 707 million VND
The C-segment sedan category may not be as fiercely competitive as the B-segment, but it certainly attracts considerable attention from car manufacturers. Popular models like the Mazda3, Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic, Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra, Kia Cerato, and the German Volkswagen Jetta dominate this segment in Vietnam. To compete with the leading Toyota Corolla Altis, the 2019 Mazda3, assembled locally, offers a more affordable price point. While the new Toyota model has seen its price rise, the Mazda3 has become progressively more cost-effective.

The Mazda3 stands out in its segment, particularly in its interior design. The cabin of the 2019 model brings significant changes from its predecessor. The dashboard features a modern, European-inspired design with a vertically mounted center screen, minimalistic controls, and subtle yet elegant detailing. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather, sports a 3-spoke design, and is adjustable in four directions. It integrates controls for audio, hands-free calling, cruise control, and paddle shifters behind the wheel. Built on the SkyActiv platform, the Mazda3 offers optimized performance with a seamless integration of engine, chassis, body, and transmission. The engine options are balanced, providing both power and efficiency. All engines are 4-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that is lightweight, responsive, and fuel-efficient. The 1.5L engine is less powerful than the turbocharged 1.5L engine in the Ford Focus, but the 2.0L engine offers 10 more horsepower than the Toyota Corolla Altis, aligning closely with the Hyundai Elantra and Kia Cerato. Additionally, the Elantra Sport variant, with a 1.6L engine, delivers an impressive 204 horsepower, catering to those who enjoy a more powerful yet reasonably priced vehicle.
The Honda CR-V first launched in Vietnam in December 2008, initially assembled locally in the compact crossover segment with few competitors at the time. Over the years, it has sold over 23,000 units and become one of the most trusted crossovers on the market. The latest CR-V features a much more aggressive and angular design than its predecessor. With dimensions of 4,584 x 1,855 x 1,679 mm and a 2,660 mm wheelbase, it is 30 mm wider and 40 mm longer in wheelbase than the previous model.

Inside, the cabin offers subtle yet significant upgrades for a more modern feel. One of the key changes is the new 5+2 seating arrangement, adding a third row with two seats, ideal for multi-generational families. In the compact crossover segment, the CR-V competes alongside the X-Trail and Outlander, which also offer this configuration. The seats are leather-wrapped in beige for the E version and black for the G and L versions. The front seats feature 8-way power adjustments for the driver, lumbar support, and 4-way manual adjustments for the passenger. The center armrest and storage compartments provide ample space for personal items. All versions come equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged DOHC VTEC engine, offering 188 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a new CVT transmission using EARTH DREAM TECHNOLOGY. Fuel consumption is estimated at 5.7L/100km in the urban cycle, 8.9L/100km in the basic urban cycle, and 6.9L/100km combined.
The 2019 Toyota Innova measures 4,735 x 1,830 x 1,795 mm with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. The standard Innova version boasts a neutral design with clean lines and a boxy shape, appealing to customers over 35 years old. For those seeking a more stylish aesthetic, Toyota offers the Venturer variant, which comes with additional exterior upgrades.

The 2019 Toyota Innova comes with a 1.998 cc 4-cylinder engine (1TR-FE), producing 136 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 183 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The G and V variants are equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the E variant features a 5-speed manual transmission. The car offers two driving modes: ECO for better fuel efficiency and POWER for enhanced performance. The ECO mode keeps the engine speed under 2,000 rpm for smooth driving, while the POWER mode delivers a more responsive throttle and increased engine revs, reaching over 3,000 rpm with a light tap on the accelerator.
The 2019 KIA Cerato (also known as the K3) is a popular sedan in Vietnam, with over 12,000 units sold in 2018 and more than 1,200 units in early 2019. It belongs to the C-segment, competing against rivals like the Toyota Corolla Altis, Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda 3, and the only German contender, the Volkswagen Jetta. Currently assembled domestically by THACO, the KIA Cerato is offered in four variants.

Sharing the same wheelbase as the Toyota Corolla Altis, Mazda 3, and Honda Civic, the KIA Cerato offers a spacious and comfortable cabin. In fact, its feature list surpasses that of the Toyota Corolla Altis. The Cerato 2019’s premium automatic variants come with stylish two-tone leather upholstery, creating a refreshing and pleasant interior. The front seats are well-padded, providing firm yet comfortable support. The driver’s seat on the automatic variants is power-adjustable in 10 ways with 2 memory settings, while the manual variant offers a 6-way manual adjustment. The rear seats have generous legroom, a wide armrest, and ample headroom, making it comfortable for people around 1.75 meters tall. The Cerato's cabin is comparably spacious to the Altis, with more room than the Elantra or Mazda 3.
The 2019 Kia Morning retains its signature design elements, including the front fog lamps and rear reflector lights, which are paired with two air vents for a more dynamic and robust appearance. The Projector halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights, and the iconic tiger-nose grille remain consistent features, creating a distinctive identity for the popular city car. The S variant features a slightly updated front with a revised grille and separate fog light vents, while the Si variant keeps the signature inverted trapezoidal grille. At the rear, the design remains familiar with the tailgate, high-mounted brake light, spoiler, and twin exhaust outlets, though the exhaust tips are primarily decorative, with the actual exhaust pipe located at the bottom right. Overall, the Kia Morning 2019 maintains its youthful and modern design but lacks the balance and neutrality seen in rivals like the Hyundai Grand i10.

The 2019 Kia Morning continues to use the 1.25L Kappa 4-cylinder DOHC engine in its 1.25 variants, producing a maximum output of 86 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 120 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. This engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The more affordable 1.0MT variant is equipped with a 1.0L 3-cylinder engine, offering a more modest performance with 66 horsepower and 94 Nm of torque. This version is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In terms of safety, the Morning Si variants come with ABS and EBD, but only offer a single airbag for the driver. The higher S variant adds a second airbag for the front seats and includes a rearview camera. Given the competitive pricing and the segment, these safety features are acceptable, making the 2019 Morning a great option for those looking for an affordable and efficient city car that offers essential features and reliability.
The 2019 Toyota Vios continues to be assembled locally in Vietnam, rather than being imported with a 0% tax rate. This year’s model sees a significant increase in local parts and components, with the number rising from 51 to 151 details. Despite these upgrades, the price remains relatively unchanged from the previous generation. The new 1.5E MT version is more affordable, catering to the needs of ride-hailing services. However, when compared to the 2018 Hyundai Accent, the Vios’ pricing seems higher, with the Accent 1.4AT offering more premium features at a slight price difference of just 9 million VND. This presents a challenge for the Vios if it cannot demonstrate a corresponding level of quality for the higher price tag.

Taking inspiration from the theme ‘Class & Emotion,’ the interior of the 2019 Toyota Vios has been completely redesigned, now offering a more refined and modern feel. The interior is predominantly made of plastic, with silver accents to enhance its premium look. Notably, the entertainment and climate control systems have been restructured to create a more seamless experience. The 1.5G CVT version comes with an upgraded Pioneer DVD player, paired with a 7-inch touchscreen that supports AM/FM, MP3/WMA/AAC playback, and USB/AUX/Bluetooth connectivity, all powered by a 6-speaker sound system. The 1.5E CVT and 1.5E MT versions retain the previous CD system with 4 speakers, sufficient for basic entertainment needs. Under the hood, the Vios 2019 continues to use the 1.5L 2NR-FE gasoline engine with 107 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm. It’s paired with either a CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission. While the Vios may not be the most exciting option in the B-segment, it has earned a strong reputation for reliability, balancing performance, features, and design, with Toyota’s brand value playing a key role in its ongoing success.
Mitsubishi's Xpander has become a standout in the Southeast Asian market, particularly in Vietnam, where it has achieved impressive sales figures. With its success in this region, it's no surprise that the Xpander has garnered substantial attention, surpassing its older siblings in the Mitsubishi lineup. This compact SUV is available in two variants in Vietnam and offers remarkable value for its affordable price, positioning itself as a strong competitor against models like the Toyota Rush, Ford Ecosport, Hyundai Kona, and Toyota HR-V.

The 2019 Mitsubishi Xpander's interior draws inspiration from the Outlander, with a three-spoke steering wheel, circular dials, and a clean dashboard layout. The cabin is finished in cream tones, offering a luxurious feel, although it can show dirt more easily. Both the AT and MT versions feature fabric upholstery, and the seating configuration accommodates seven passengers with comfortable front and middle-row seats. The driver's seat in the AT version is manually adjustable in six directions, while the MT version has a four-way adjustment. With a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine producing 104 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque, the Xpander offers smooth performance, achieving fuel efficiency of 7.6L/100km in the city and 5.4L/100km on highways. Despite its compact MPV status, the Xpander handles rough roads fairly well, though tire noise in the cabin can be a concern.
