10. Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry (HCMUAF) was established in 1955 with the goal of training skilled animal husbandry engineers and veterinarians, both in theory and practice, at the undergraduate level, as well as master's and doctoral candidates for in-depth research at the postgraduate level. With over 60 years of operation, the department has educated thousands of professionals in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, offering both regular and part-time programs.
The department has built strong collaborations with universities, research institutes, government agencies, and businesses across Vietnam. Additionally, it participates in international research exchange programs with organizations such as SIDA SAREC from Sweden, the University of Veterinary Medicine in Lyons, Toulouse, and Nantes in France, ACIAR, the University of Queensland in Australia, FAO, UNDP, and other global institutions. Currently, the department employs 56 staff members, 48 of whom are involved in teaching, including 12 faculty members with the title of Associate Professor or PhD, 15 with doctoral degrees, and 20 with Master's degrees. The department is responsible for training undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine.
The department has completed and transferred many practical research projects to production. These include research on the use of leaf powder in animal feed, production of vitamin-mineral premixes and feed additives, breeding strategies for pigs, modern diagnostic methods for livestock diseases, the design and installation of biogas bags to reduce environmental pollution and save fuel, computer applications for livestock management, development of optimal feed formulas, and sustainable agricultural system livestock models, among many others.
