The current top Dota 2 team globally is the Gaimin Gladiators, a European esports organization, entering the Dota 2 scene in February 2022 by signing with Team Tickles. They immediately found success, defeating Team Liquid in the WEU Regional Finals, marking the beginning of fierce competition. The warriors of Gaimin Gladiators continued their success, placing fourth at the Stockholm Major and mid-table at The International 2022.
Heading into the 2022-2023 season, the Gaimin Gladiators managed to secure mid-laner BOOM for Quinn and coach Immortal Faith from another team. The Gladiators' relentless players continued their resurgence, establishing dominance in international rankings in the first half of the season, then securing victories at the Lima Major, DreamLeague Season 19, and Berlin Major in succession, defeating rivals Team Liquid in the finals. In doing so, Gaimin Gladiators became the first team to claim two consecutive championships since PSG.LGD in the 2017-2018 season.


2. Team Liquid
Ranked third among the world's strongest Dota 2 teams is Team Liquid, a renowned global professional gaming organization founded in 2000. Originating as a Battle.net group and StarCraft community website, Team Liquid has evolved into a multifaceted global company with unparalleled reach in the esports industry. With over 60 championship-caliber athletes across 14 top-tier games, Team Liquid has secured numerous victories.
The European Dota 2 division of Team Liquid claimed victory at The International 2017, one of the most lucrative tournaments in esports history, and won the Supermajor 2018. Team Liquid dominated North America in 2018, securing the LCS Spring and Summer titles. Beyond being an esports team, Team Liquid is a media enterprise with community websites and other ventures in the gaming ecosystem. Team Liquid's Liquipedia wiki network is the most widely used resource across all esports disciplines.


3. Tundra Esports
Ranked as the second strongest Dota 2 team globally, Tundra Esports is a professional esports organization based in London, United Kingdom. They entered the Dota 2 arena in early 2021. Founded in 2019 with the ambition to nurture the world's best esports talents, Tundra quickly established themselves as a mid-tier team in Western Europe during the DPC 2021 season. Continuing to evolve, by the end of the season, they finished second in the Western Europe Regional Qualifiers for The International 2021, narrowly missing out on a spot in the tournament.
With the addition of coach Aui_2000, Tundra Esports successfully navigated the qualifiers for all three DPC seasons and emerged as champions in Tour 3. In 2022, Tundra Esports competed in The International 2022, topping their group and dropping just one game throughout the entire main event. In the Grand Finals, they brilliantly clinched the championship by defeating Team Secret 3-0, becoming the second team to sweep The International Grand Finals (since Team Liquid defeated Newbee at The International 2017).


4. Evil Geniuses
Evil Geniuses stands as one of the most formidable Dota 2 teams globally. Established in 1999, Evil Geniuses has led the esports industry for over two decades. Competing at the highest level across nearly all major esports titles, including Counter-Strike, Starcraft, League of Legends, Dota 2, Call of Duty, Rocket League, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Halo, Street Fighter, Super Smash Bros: Melee, and various fighting games.
Evil Geniuses has clinched 180 championships over the past 20 years. Attracting players across a variety of competitive gaming titles, including Dota 2, within three years of acquiring the League Championship Series spot, Evil Geniuses secured the League Champions in the spring of 2022, asserting themselves as a powerhouse in North America. The legendary rosters of Evil Geniuses are composed of top talents worldwide.


5. Team Spirit
Team Spirit is a Russian esports organization, also one of the strongest Dota 2 teams in the world, founded in 2015. On December 19, 2020, Team Spirit signed a contract with Yellow Submarine, along with young players Yatoro, Toronto Tokyo, and Collapse, Miposhka, after adding Dota legend Silent as a coach. Team Spirit finished in 4th place in the first season of the CIS Upper Division, maintaining their position in the second season in the Upper Division. In the second season of the CIS Upper Division, Team Spirit finished in second place, behind Virtus.pro, qualifying for the group stage of the second Major tournament of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit season.
With a total of 585 DPC points for the 2021 DPC season, Team Spirit did not qualify for a direct invite to The International 2021 and had to compete in the Eastern Europe qualifiers. Team Spirit defeated Team Empire with a score of 3-2. Alongside Virtus.pro, they will be the only two CIS esports teams participating in The International. In 2021, the team became the second Eastern European-based esports organization to win The International after Natus Vincere in 2011.


6. Shopify Rebellion
One of the newest and wealthiest Dota 2 teams in the esports scene aiming to become one of the strongest teams in North America is Shopify Rebellion. Shopify Rebellion is currently a Canadian esports organization, a subsidiary of the multinational e-commerce company Shopify. Their Dota 2 division, based in the US, only entered esports in February 2021. Former Evil Geniuses members now play for Shopify Rebellion. After losing Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko to BetBoom Team, Shopify Rebellion immediately recruited Jonáš “SabeRLight-” Volek from TSM.
Shopify Rebellion is coached by longtime EG coach Kanishka 'BuLba' Sosale. Shopify Rebellion continues to compete with powerhouse NA players Arteezy and Cr1t-, who previously played for Evil Geniuses for nearly six years. Shopify Rebellion led the group stage of The International 11 with a stellar performance, but they lost two consecutive series in the playoffs, ultimately finishing in ninth place. Shopify Rebellion successfully qualified for TI11 thanks to their strong showing in the esports arena in the North American region.


7. PSG.LGD
LGD Gaming began as For The Dream, winning SMM 2009, later that year FTD received investment from LGD. The team has been a powerhouse in the Chinese scene since. On April 19, 2018, LGD partnered with French football giant Paris Saint-Germain, officially renaming their Dota 2 team to PSG.LGD. PSG.LGD has become one of the strongest professional Dota 2 teams based in China. The team secured their first title under the partnership at EPICENTER XL, defeating Team Liquid 3-1 in the grand finals.
The team has seen various levels of success, participating and winning numerous tournaments and events throughout the years. PSG.LGD showed strong form at The International 2021, going 15–1 in the group stage to advance to the upper bracket. There, PSG.LGD won every series to advance to the grand finals by defeating T1, Virtus.pro, and Team Secret but ultimately fell to Team Spirit in the most thrilling series of the year with a score of 3–2.


8. OG
OG also known as OG Esports is a professional esports organization based in Europe. OG was established under the name 'Business' in August 2015. Following their domination in the European qualifiers for the Frankfurt Major, they adopted the nickname OG. OG continued to win the opening Dota 2 Major held in Frankfurt in November 2015, earning a $1 million prize pool. Despite finishing in the lower half of the next Major held in Shanghai in March 2016, OG quickly bounced back and secured first place at the Manila Major in June 2016, becoming the first team to win back-to-back championships in the Valve-sponsored Dota 2 tournament.
OG clinched the Boston Major in December 2016, marking their third Dota 2 Major championship. For the first premier tournament post-Boston, OG advanced to the finals of the Asian Dota 2 Championship in Shanghai, where they were swept in the best-of-five series by Invictus Gaming. OG is renowned for its Dota 2 team that has won The International in 2018 and 2019. They also have a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team.


9. Team Aster
Team Aster is a Chinese Dota 2 team dedicated to esports since 2018. BurNIng, a former world-class player and Dota legend, is also one of the co-founders of Aster. The professional Dota 2 team from China currently ranks 8th in the world standings with total earnings of $427,371. Team Aster also has a youth team, Ater.Aries, established in October 2019. Their biggest rivals include Invictus Gaming, EHOME, and PSG.LGD.
Team Aster showcased their strength in Asian Dota at the Kuala Lumpur Major China Open Qualifiers in September 2018, securing the top spot in their region. Team Aster emerged victorious in the Dota 2 tournament against Alliance with a score of 3:1, marking one of the most spectacular matches executed by Team Aster. One of the most memorable matches was when Team Aster lost to Thunder Predator at the One Esports Singapore Major in April 2021.


10. Talon Esports
With teams and fans from all corners of the region, Talon serves as the convergence point for Asia's esports talents. Talon Esports is a professional esports organization based in Hong Kong with teams competing across the Asia-Pacific. Established in 2017, Talon has clinched over 30 major championships across multiple titles, including Dota 2. The legendary roster of Talon Esports collaborates with PSG Esports and is known as PSG Talon. PSG Talon competes in the Pacific Championship Series, the premier tournament for games in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia, and Oceania.
The debut lineup of Talon Esports includes top laner Su 'Hanabi' Chia-hsiang, jungler Kim 'River' Dong-woo, mid laner Kim 'Candy' Seung-ju, bot laner Wong 'Unified' Chun-kit, and support Ling Kai-wing. Talon Esports finished third in the PCS Spring 2020 regular season, qualifying for the first direct playoffs and subsequently emerging victorious overall. Currently, Talon Esports is hailed as one of the strongest Dota 2 teams in the world.
