10. Domaine De Marie Church
When in Da Lat, besides familiar places like Xuan Huong Lake, Valley of Love, Prenn Waterfall, travelers certainly cannot overlook Domaine De Marie Church – Our Lady's Domain located on Ngo Quyen Street, just 1km southwest of the city center. In the middle of the vertical face, near the roof's peak, there is a round rose window. This detail often appears in French churches of the late 17th century. The roof system resembles the longhouses of the Central Highlands ethnic groups. The wall is constructed with split stones up to the window sill in the Normandy architectural style (Northern France). The lower part of the wall is quite thick, and the doors are designed to be recessed inside, so on the side of the building, distinct panels can be clearly seen - voids, shades - light and dark, making the side of the building more impressive and unique. Since its completion, the church has only used dark pink lime paint to coat the walls. Under the sunlight, the church becomes bright and stands out, like a glamorous part of the mysterious fairy tales and legends.
