3. Giếng Trời
Giếng Trời is situated in a pristine forest to the west of the city, surrounded by wild mountains and lush vegetation. The area is blessed with a large waterfall, fresh air, and a rich diversity of plant life, making it a favorite among adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike. The majestic landscape is a perfect retreat for those seeking peace and beauty.
Reaching Giếng Trời is a bit more challenging than other destinations, as it's located in a protected forest. Summer is the ideal time to visit, as the dry weather makes the mountain roads safe. There are two ways to get there:
- Hiking: Drive from the city center to Bà Nà, park your car, and then take a scenic 4-hour hike to Giếng Trời, enjoying the views of Da Nang along the way.
- Driving: For those with a reliable vehicle and experienced drivers, this route is quicker but requires caution.
Since Giếng Trời is still a relatively undeveloped area, you'll need to bring your own camping gear and food. Despite the journey being a little tough, the experience is rewarding. You can enjoy a refreshing dip in the natural spring, go fishing, and even relive your childhood by catching frogs and snails. Camping under the stars, around a campfire, and enjoying a BBQ is a highlight here. Just remember to clean up before you leave to keep the place pristine.

4. Ghềnh Bàng
Ghềnh Bàng is located on the Sơn Trà Peninsula, 20km from the heart of Da Nang. Much like Giếng Trời, Ghềnh Bàng is not a developed tourist spot, so visitors must bring their own supplies. From the city center, you can reach the peninsula by motorbike, taxi, or Grab. After that, it's a short 1km walk through the forest before you reach the beautiful Ghềnh Bàng beach.
The beach's crystal-clear water and rich marine life make it perfect for snorkeling and coral diving. If you're already a swimmer, don't forget your snorkeling gear and waterproof camera to capture your underwater adventures. If you can't swim, don't worry! Onshore, you can fish, take photos, and enjoy the stunning scenery. With blue skies, white clouds, and a sunny, breezy atmosphere, it's the perfect backdrop for a photo session that will leave you with memories for a lifetime.
As the night falls, gather around with friends to set up camp, light a bonfire, enjoy a BBQ, and marvel at the starry sky while listening to the sound of the waves. A perfect way to end a weekend filled with joy and adventure!

5. Mũi Nghê
Mũi Nghê is located on the eastern side of the Sơn Trà Peninsula, about 10 km from downtown Da Nang. This spot remains untouched and has not been developed for tourism, preserving its natural beauty. The name Mũi Nghê, or Nghê Island, comes from the unique shape of the mountain, which resembles a sea lion resting with its head turned towards the mountains and its body facing the sea.
Although it's only a 10km journey, the road to Mũi Nghê is quite challenging and dangerous. You can travel by water, but due to rocky shores, speedboats can't dock directly at the point, so you'll need to walk the rest of the way. Many prefer to ride a motorbike from the city center, following Võ Nguyên Giáp road until you reach the Linh Ứng Pagoda. From there, turn right toward the banyan tree and continue on foot through the forest to reach Mũi Nghê.
Mũi Nghê is known for its tranquil water lagoon, tinted with a hint of blue from the sea, surrounded by rocky formations. The area features rocky beaches and open land, perfect for camping with friends under the stars. As it's the first place in the city to greet the sunrise, you can experience an unforgettable view as the red sun rises slowly, casting golden rays on the sea, with soft white clouds floating on the horizon. Watching the sunrise here is a truly magical experience.

6. Hồ Xanh
Located near Bãi Bụt Lake, close to the Linh Ứng Pagoda and just 10km from the city center, Hồ Xanh is easily accessible by motorbike. It's a great spot for photography, wedding shoots, or even overnight camping without any entrance fees. The lake has been developed with various features for visitors, such as a bamboo bridge across the lake, wooden swings, and circular tree structures.
True to its name, the water at Hồ Xanh is crystal clear and a vibrant green, allowing you to see all the way to the bottom. The lake is always calm and serene, with gentle ripples only when the wind blows. The surface of the water sparkles in the morning sunlight, adding to the lake's peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. The air is cool and fresh, with mist rising from the water, making it an ideal place for a relaxing stroll, allowing you to feel at peace and enjoy the moment. The tranquil beauty of the lake attracts those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and unwind in nature.
Some important tips for visiting Hồ Xanh in Da Nang:
- Swimming is not allowed in the lake, so make sure to avoid it to prevent any penalties.
- The lake can be quiet and somewhat risky at night, so if you plan to camp or visit late, it's best to go with a group for safety.
- If you're visiting with young children, keep a close eye on them as the lake is quite deep.

7. Hải Vân Pass
If you're an adventurous traveler who enjoys a thrill, camping at the top of Hải Vân Pass could be an unforgettable experience. Known as the most beautiful yet challenging mountain pass in Vietnam, Hải Vân is often called the 'King of the Mountain Passes'. Since the Hải Vân Tunnel was completed, most travelers opt for the tunnel, leaving the pass road quieter. However, if you're eager to immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery, you can enjoy the journey at a moderate speed, navigating the winding road with confidence.
The view is stunning, with the road winding in a serpentine pattern along the mountain slopes, resembling a ribbon stretching across the clouds. While the climb is steep and winding, the road is wide and shaded by lush greenery. On one side, towering cliffs rise, while the other drops into a deep abyss, with glimpses of the clear blue sea below. The Hải Vân Pass has long served as a natural boundary between the climate of the North and South, and the higher you go towards Thừa Thiên Huế, the more you will feel the shift in weather, with thick fog and a chilling breeze.
At the Hải Vân Quan stop, you can take a concrete path (which is steep, but accessible by motorbike or on foot) for about 2km until you reach a large military bunker surrounded by a spacious area, perfect for camping in the midst of nature. From here, you can take in panoramic views of Da Nang's beaches, the Lang Co Bay, and the iconic 'M' shape of Hải Vân Pass.
