According to the latest report from SensorTower, statistics show that Chinese gamers spent about 2.1 billion Chinese Yuan (equivalent to over 330 million USD) to download and play online games during the recent Lunar New Year.
If last year's game downloads were 160 million, in 2018, that number increased to 210 million. In terms of revenue, mobile games on the App Store also rose to 200 million Chinese Yuan in 2018.
In 2018, Tencent Games continued to leave a strong mark with their game and app products, securing spots in the Top 10 most downloaded apps. The first and second positions were occupied by Honour of Kings and QQ Speed Mobile respectively. The majority of other iOS apps also belonged to Tencent.
For the first time, two products from Tencent, PUBG Mobile, made it to the list of the Top 10 apps considered as the trends of 2018.
It can be said that the top 10 most played iOS games during the Lunar New Year somewhat reflect the current ranking of Chinese gaming products and the situation of each development company.
