4. Are You Afraid of the Dark? (October 4)
The latest film directed by D.J. Caruso is Are You Afraid of the Dark?, produced by Paramount Pictures, based on the horror story series that first aired in the 1990s in Canada. The movie follows a group of teens who call themselves the 'Midnight Society,' as they embark on camping trips in the woods. Strange and terrifying events, often involving creatures like vampires and aliens, begin to unfold around them.
This feature film promises to send chills down the spine more so than the original television series. Caruso, acclaimed for his success with sci-fi thrillers like *Disturbia* and *Eagle Eye* starring Shia LaBeouf, was also behind *Return of Xander Cage*, which grossed $346 million globally and helped revive Vin Diesel's superstar status. He is set to direct the next *xXx* installment, slated for release in 2019.
Are You Afraid of the Dark? was originally a popular horror TV series on YTV, airing from 1990 to 1996, and again from 1999 to 2000. Each episode was a standalone story, offering different frightening experiences for its viewers. After over two years of development, a theatrical film adaptation of the series is set to hit theaters, written by Gary Dauberman (IT), with Caruso at the helm.

5. Terminator 6 (November 1)
Recently, Australian action star Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared at the 'An Experience With Arnold Schwarzenegger' event in the UK, where he confirmed that Terminator 6 will be a complete departure from its predecessor, *Terminator: Genisys*. The plot elements from the 2015 film will be completely disregarded, and the new movie will stand on its own.
Filming for *Terminator 6* began in March 2018, with Tim Miller directing, and James Cameron and David Ellison serving as producers. The rights to the *Terminator* franchise have finally returned to James Cameron, the creator of the series, and he aims to revive the brand alongside Skydance, under Ellison’s guidance. Tim Miller, known for his work on the blockbuster *Deadpool* (2016), is directing, while James Cameron also contributes to the script and serves as a producer.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his iconic role as the T-800, the cyborg sent from the future to assassinate the mother of the future human leader in the war against Skynet. Additionally, 60-year-old Linda Hamilton is confirmed to return as Sarah Connor, a role she originated in the first two films.
When *Terminator* first premiered in 1984, it revolutionized the sci-fi genre. Despite several failed attempts to reboot the series, James Cameron teased in a recent interview with JoBlo that *Terminator 6* may explore the origins of the T-800 cyborg: where its design came from, who the original character was, and how it relates to Skynet's artificial intelligence...
The reunion of Cameron, Schwarzenegger, and Hamilton has sparked renewed excitement among fans, as it feels like the true successor to *Terminator 2*. The production team hopes that this installment will launch a new trilogy and possibly bring the *Terminator* franchise, which has spanned over 30 years, to a close.

Stephen King has become a legendary figure among horror fans worldwide, with best-selling books like *IT*, *The Shining*, *The Shawshank Redemption*, *The Dark Tower* series, and *Pet Sematary* being staples for horror lovers everywhere.
After the success of the 2017 horror hit *IT* (which is currently producing its sequel), another of King’s works is set to terrorize audiences—*Pet Sematary*. Considered one of the most iconic horror novels by the master of suspense, the 2019 film adaptation from Paramount is directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, who previously gained recognition with indie horror films like *Starry Eyes* and *Holidays*.
Recently, *Pet Sematary* unveiled its first trailer. Despite being only two minutes long, the trailer sets a dark and terrifying tone, promising a horror film that is not just about jump scares but also deeply invested in narrative depth and artistic quality.
The trailer begins with Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke) moving to a new house in the quiet town of Ludlow with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children. What initially appears to be a peaceful, cozy home quickly becomes suspicious and eerie, especially after a truck races past their house at high speed. But this is only the beginning of the dangers that await the Creed family.
The trailer reveals a chilling local legend told by their elderly neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow). Deep in the woods behind the Creed's home lies a pet cemetery, where local children bury their dead pets. The strange part is that these children wear bizarre animal masks when they enter the woods, and they dare each other to visit the cemetery at night. The rumor has it that a malevolent, mysterious entity resides in the forest, within the ominous pet cemetery.
The end of the trailer escalates the tension with disturbing events unfolding rapidly for the Creed family: Louis’s foot is badly mangled, his wife Rachel and son Gage are terrified, strange masked figures appear, and blood stains and footprints lead to more horrors. The family is caught in a terrifying web of dark secrets, with their lives at great risk. *Pet Sematary* is set to hit theaters worldwide on April 5, 2019.

10. Rocketman (May 31)
Rocketman offers an authentic portrayal of the turbulent youth of the legendary singer Elton John. Taron Egerton, known for his role in *Kingsman*, was chosen to bring to life the young, talented, and passionate Elton John, a man repeatedly falling into the traps of fame. However, *Rocketman* isn’t your typical biopic—it combines elements of musical fantasy and abstract storytelling, promising to bring a fresh and unexpected take on the genre.
Director Dexter Fletcher has revealed that the film will expose dark, untold aspects of the *Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word* singer’s life. Fletcher previously stepped in as director for *Bohemian Rhapsody*, which focused on the iconic band Queen. *Rocketman*, named after John’s 1972 song, is inspired by the song that ranked 245th on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The film’s first image, released by Paramount, shows Taron Egerton as Elton John lounging luxuriously on a private jet, exuding confidence. Wearing a bomber jacket, glittering gold chains, large glasses, and winged shoes paired with striped socks, Egerton successfully transforms into the iconic English singer, leaving behind his previous suave film persona. Throughout the trailer, we follow Elton’s journey from childhood to his rise in music, with his discovery as a musical prodigy and his partnership with Bernie Taupin, who became his long-time collaborator in writing the lyrics for many of John’s greatest hits. The trailer culminates with Elton performing on stage, with thousands of fans cheering, marking a glorious moment in his career.
Yet, Elton John’s life isn’t just about the euphoric moments shared with fans. Behind the dazzling lights, he struggled with loneliness, alcohol, and drugs. The film depicts his battle to sustain his creative drive through substance abuse over the years. As the trailer progresses, we see his descent into excessive parties, fleeting relationships with beautiful women, and ultimately his burnout. The trailer ends with the poignant *Rocketman* theme song sung by Taron Egerton, filled with deep emotion. The film showcases the highs and lows of Elton John's journey, and as Director Dexter Fletcher puts it, “The story is about Elton managing personal relationships, searching for love in the wrong places, self-destructing with alcohol and drugs, but still surviving as a genius in the entertainment industry for over fifty years.”
*Rocketman* is one of Paramount’s most anticipated projects of 2019. Based on the real-life story of the British music icon, Elton John is one of the few artists to have won prestigious awards in music (5 Grammys), film (1 Oscar), and theater (1 Tony). The film will offer an honest and emotional look at his remarkable life.
What sets *Rocketman* apart is not only Taron Egerton’s performance but also the involvement of Elton John as an executive producer. This ensures that the film will remain authentic to his story, both in terms of content and artistry. The film is sure to satisfy long-time fans of the *Can You Feel The Love Tonight* singer.
