1. The Last of Us Part II
Almost a decade later, Naughty Dog has released The Last of Us Part II, the highly anticipated sequel to the iconic game. Playing The Last of Us Part II on PlayStation 5 only emphasizes that this was one of the best games of the previous decade, and therefore one of the best games ever made. The Last of Us Part II impresses with its graphics and is closer in appearance to The Last of Us Part II than previous parts of this game.
The Last of Us takes place in a post-apocalyptic world filled with creatures known as the Infected. We see this world through the eyes of Joel, a man who lost his only daughter in the initial outbreak twenty years ago and has since become a hardened, reclusive smuggler just trying to get by. When he is tasked with smuggling a teenage girl, Ellie, for a rebel militia group called the Fireflies, Joel begins to slowly but surely find that there may be something worth fighting for in his life once again.

2. Overwatch 2: Rise of the Heroes
Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play team-based action game set in an optimistic future where every match is a 5v5 showdown to the pinnacle. Play as a time-traveling warrior, a DJ with brutal beats, and over 30 other quirky characters as you battle across the globe. After a few years of halting new hero additions to the original Overwatch, Blizzard is planning to roll out Overwatch 2 with three fresh faces.
Sojourn is a highly mobile marksman with an electrifying assault rifle and energy burst capabilities when the assault rifle fires intensely. A fantastic blend of Soldier's raw chip damage and Widowmaker's explosive damage potential. Junker Queen is a close-range brawler with a high-damage scattergun.
Junker Queen can pull enemies towards her with her throwing knife and bleed enemies hit by her axe. Her burst healing and over-time healing abilities give her high sustainability, but she requires precise aim to score takedowns. The mysterious hero is a new support, a role that's currently underappreciated in Overwatch 2. Blizzard acknowledges this issue and plans to address it by releasing more supports in the first year of Overwatch 2.

3. Splatoon 3: The Inkling Odyssey
Splatoon 3 officially splats onto the Switch on September 9, 2022. Nintendo unveiled the seasonal window upfront in the presentation, focusing entirely on the return of Salmon Run. One of the most pleasantly surprising things about Splatoon 2 was Salmon Run, a cooperative mode pitting groups of four players against waves of bizarre (but also quite adorable) Salmonid foes. It seems like character customization in Splatoon 3 is more expansive and representative than ever. Alongside some weapons we've seen before, the Direct also highlighted some brand-new special weapons.
Nintendo unveiled the Splatoon 3 trailer during the February Direct, and you couldn't ask for a better debut. Following an Inkling on their journey from the Splatlands to the bustling and chaotic city of Splitsville. The Eiffel Tower ripped from its foundation and upended into a massive chasm. As our Inkling hero arrives in Splitsville, they dive straight into the Turf War to showcase their newfound abilities and weapons. Splatoon 3 includes the Crab Tank, a modified version of the Triple Ink Strike, The Big Bubbler, and the Zipcaster. Nintendo also confirms that all basic weapons from previous Splatoon games will make their way to Splatoon 3.

4. Mario + Rabbids Spark of Hope: Galactic Crossover
Nintendo and Ubisoft are no strangers to collaboration. Over the past few years, the companies have worked together on several projects including bringing Star Fox content to the Switch version of the toys-to-life game Starlink: Battle for Atlas. However, that's just part of the story; a year prior, the two companies teamed up on a game that brought Rabbids and Mario together in a new title called Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.
The turn-based game became a massive hit, also catching the attention of Ubisoft game director Davide Soliani, and not long before the two companies embarked on making the sequel. Introduced digitally at E3 2021, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope has expanded the franchise further by adding more characters like Rabbid Rosalina, Bowser, and a new character named Edge. Levels are also less linear and the grid-based combat system has been entirely replaced for something more free-flowing and open-ended.

5. A Plague Tale: Requiem - The Next Chapter
Embark on an emotional and gripping journey in the sequel to the award-winning A Plague Tale: Innocence. Following the footsteps of Amicia and her brother Hugo, as they do whatever it takes to survive in a ruthless, indifferent world. A Plague Tale: Requiem will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and in Cloud Version on Nintendo Switch on October 18, 2022. A Plague Tale: Requiem introduces several gameplay improvements, including the fact that Amicia won't die from a single blow anymore, opening up more ways to handle stealth encounters and the like.
By the end of the game, Amicia and Hugo have defeated a twisted Grand Inquisitor to rid the land of the rat plague that Hugo could control through a hereditary curse, and while that seemingly restored life to normalcy, everything doesn't seem entirely resolved. From the information disclosed so far about Requiem, it appears that the two siblings, along with their mother Beatrice, will journey south in hopes of finding a permanent cure for Hugo's ailment.

6. Gotham Knights: A New Dawn
Gotham Knights is the game developers' endeavor to bring back the Batman universe after seven years since the release of Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Knight back in 2015. However, Gotham Knights is set to offer something entirely fresh—a action RPG open-world game where you'll have to fight to gather the pieces after the untimely death of Bruce Wayne. The release date for Gotham Knights has been precisely set for October 21, 2022.
Gotham Knights was officially announced in 2020, when developer WB Games Montreal introduced cooperative action sequences, extensively explaining the origins of Gotham City, and four specific playable characters including Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin. After the game was repeatedly delayed by the developers and after the last-gen versions were scrapped to ensure quality, Gotham Knights is now poised for release on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in October. Additionally, there's some minor disappointment as the famous game's PS4 and Xbox One versions are no longer in development.

7. Scorn: The Haunting Odyssey
Ebb Software's endeavor is a first-person horror adventure where players wander around a series of hellscapes inspired by HR Giger as they try to escape what's rather difficult, very peculiar prison-like setting, where everything is bloody and screams all the time. While Scorn does include a hefty amount of first-person shooter action with various types of firearms, ammunition is limited and the game not only poses challenging questions to players but also alternative playstyles, such as the necessity to avoid confrontations.
Perhaps the most surprising thing about Scorn, aside from its rugged aesthetic, is that the game has absolutely no cutscenes with the story instead being told from within the game itself. Scorn will be fully released on PC via Steam, while Scorn's console versions are currently still exclusive to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, though Scorn coming to PlayStation 5 at some point in the future is certainly not ruled out.

8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Resurgence
Infinity Ward has confirmed they are developing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 alongside Warzone 2, and both games will launch on a unified platform alongside all future Call of Duty titles. This is hoped to avoid the bloating that has occurred in the current iteration of Warzone due to the integration of multiple Call of Duty titles. Infinity Ward showcased impressive new water technology for the sequel, some of which will be featured in the wild multiplayer of Modern Warfare 2.
The release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been set for October 28, 2022. While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard launched in mid-November, it seems Activision is leveraging a tidier fall release window to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 out into the world a bit earlier than anticipated. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with its reveal trailer was released on June 8. It provided a basic glimpse of the cast, including Captain Price, Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick, Sergeant MacTavish, Ghost, and the new Colonel Alejandro Vargas.

9. Bayonetta 3: Sorcery Unleashed
Bayonetta 3 is set to launch on October 28 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Bayonetta is back to unleash some intricate maneuvers, perform insane combos, and rack up high scores. The game's dynamic visuals still look more stylish than ever, and it seems the combat still revolves around the player's lightning-fast reflexes. Fans can expect a handful of unique enemies and bosses that Bayonetta will have to face off against.
Another scene in this trailer depicts Bayonetta summoning a giant creature, commanding it to attack a colossal foe, and even riding it across skyscrapers to chase down a monster. One of the astonishing new gameplay additions allows Bayonetta to harness the power of Infernal Demons to explore the world and engage in combat in novel ways. A shot in the trailer shows her transforming into a massive lava spider and leaping across a deep chasm.

10. God of War Ragnarok: Norse Apocalypse
As one of the most anticipated games for 2022, the latest interface of God of War Ragnarok only adds to the excitement. Initially unveiled during the PS5 showcase in 2021. After some initial delays pushing God of War Ragnarok to a 2022 release, Sony Santa Monica studio announced it will officially launch on November 9, 2022. News came from a surprise short trailer called 'Father and Son,' showing Kratos and Atreus facing off against a massive wolf.
The reveal trailer of God of War Ragnarok has given us a clear insight into what to expect from the story. Many years have passed since the end of God of War in 2018, evident in Atreus being older, more confident with the giant genes beginning to manifest. The father and son duo must face Ragnarok on the horizon, the Norse version of the apocalypse, confronting enemies they've created in God of War like Freya.
